One windy day Jessica and D. J. were in the yard playing in the leaves. Jessica discovered that she could hold the leaves up and let them go and the wind would blow them away. D. J. however, was just standing and holding his leaf. Since Jessica is the oldest and wanted to be a good older sister she walked over to D. J. and was going to show him how to release his leaf so the wind would blow it away.
She walked over to D. J. and picked up a leaf and let the wind carry it away then looked at him and said "Up yours, D. J."
I babysit for twins who are Jewish, so I was explaining to Jessica that the twins have the Jewish Faith and they do not celebrate Christmas, instead they celebrate eight days of Hannuka, and for eight nights they get one gift.
Now just yesterday Arthur (the other little boy I watch) came over with one present each for DJ and Jess and Me. Thank goodness his mom had other errands to run and and Dad just picked up Arthur and dropped off presents. So we opened them without anyone there. Jessica opens her gift and it wasn't a toy or clothes, but a "Going to Grandma's" bag with her name engraved on it. I don't know what she expected but she says to me "Why did they give me only one present, THEY MUST BE JEWISH". I couldn't believe my ears ... I'm thinking, how is it that she she made that connection (Jewish cheap?) ... it wasn't until she said it again later in the car, that I explained to her that Arthur is Catholic and that people generally only give one gift, etc ...
But it was so funny to hear her exclaim that Arthur and his family must be Jewish because they only gave one gift ... Doug and I are still laughing about it.
