After the tears slowly diminished from the young boys eyes, he raised his head from his mothers lap. He sniffled,as he rubbed his eyes,wiping away the tears. Ann just rubbed his back. She smiled,"Why don't you go see how Brian is doing?" He sadly nodded his head,as he slowly got up. Kevin slowly made his way into the house,his eyes meeting his fathers,but he quickly turned his head. He walked over to the younger boy,laying on the couch. He sat down on the ground,his hand tightly grabbed Brian's. Jerald looked at his son, as he tried to blink back the tears that were forming. His head turned quickly,seeing his wife enter the house. Ann mouthed"Kitchen" He nodded his head,as he slowly rose from his seat.
Ann skimmed the pages of the address book,as she heard her husband enter the kitchen. "How is Brian?"she asked. "I think he's going to be okay,"he whisered. "Did you check for a fever?"she asked,her back still to him. "N..no,he looks alittle red though,"he said,quietly. She quickly shut the book, as she walked over to the cabinet,searching for the thermometer. "Why?" Ann asked her husband. "Why what?" Jerald asked. "Why did you yell at him that way,Jerald, you have NEVER raised your voice to our son."Ann said, her voice hard. He hung his head low,letting the tears fall."I...I...I don't know A..Ann...I..I just" He stummbled over his words, as tears fell from his eyes. Ann dropped her shoulders, she turned around,looking at her husband. She walked over to him,sitting down,placing her hand on his shoulder. "I..I'm sorry Jerald, for yelling at you,I...he was just so upset,he was sobbing.... you know honey, he was only trying to help."Her voice was soft as she spoke. "I...I..I know," he sobbed,as his head hung low. She leaned her head on his shoulder,and hugged him tightly. "M..momma?" The both heard the young boys voice,running near them. Kevin reached his mother and father, as he tried to gasp for breath."B...B..Brian....he...he's a..awake"
