His head dropped as tears lighty fell from his eyes. How was a father to tell his son that he was dying? Ann's arms dropped from her husbands waist,as she quickly wiped the tears that fell from her eyes. She knelt down to her young son's level, her hand on his shoulder,"Baby,why don't you go play with Brian,okay?"Her voice was hoarse,as tears welled up in her eyes yet again. The young boy looked at his mother with wonder,"But-" the young boy was cut off by his mother lightly pushing him towards the field."Go honey,were fine,now go play" The young boy turned his head,looking at his young cousin petting the horses. The young cousin called over to the boy,"Kevin....come look at this,"his tiny voice yelled from across the field. Kevin looked back at his parents, his mother nodded her head. He quickly ran across the field, joining his cousin. Ann's smlie quickly diminished as she turned her head to meet her husbands tear stained face. Jerald quietly sat down on the porch steps, putting his face in his hands. "Oh honey," Ann cried as she sat next to her husband,pulling him into her embrace, while his shoulders shook with every sobbed. Her arms tightend around him. His head rose as he looked in his wifes eyes." I didn't know what to say...how does a father tell his son that he has cancer,how?"His head lowered down,as tears took him over. She rubbed his back,leaning her head on his shoulder,as they both cried in eachothers arms. Both parents were interrupted by a loud scream filling the air. Their heads shot up,as their eyes met the horrible scene that lay in front of them....... |
