I guess I should tell you a little about myself.... My name is Melissa (some people call me Melly) and I'm 28 years old. I love to read, and write short stories and poems(ok, writing is more than a hobby for me, it's what I hope to make a career out of...) My favorite shows are: "Joan of Arcadia", "ER", "Late Show With David Letterman", "Saturday Night Live", and "Survivor"(what a combination!!!) I also love all CBS soaps, but especially "As The World Turns" and "Guiding Light." Movies are a great favorite of mine too; I try to see as many as I can, both in the theater and video, and I have too many favorites to name right here. I like a lot of different kinds of music, and collect CD'S, but my absolute favorite is U2. I also like Enya, Sting, Dido, Peter Gabriel, and many others(very ecclectic, I guess you could say). Mostly Pop/Rock(and alternative), Dance, New Age, and Classical are the genres I listen to, but it depends on the artist. As well as music, movies, and TV, I also like exploring religion and philosophy. I like to meditate, and I'm trying to learn yoga. I also love hanging out with my friends and family, and my two cats. Being with my family and friends probably has to be my favorite thing to do... For vacations, I love to go to Cape Cod and Martha's Vineyard Mass(and I'll share some pictures with you later on in the page.) ...I also love New York City. And of course, as you can probably guess, I enjoy the computer and the internet....I just can't get enough of the internet. And email. It's a lot of fun to stay in touch with faraway friends, and be able to meet new ones, all on the computer! Ok...that's just a little introduction to me... Now,I will share with you some of my pictures and some other of my favorite things. Many of these pictures I took while on vacation a couple of summers ago. I am currently working on a separate picture page, and I will link to it when it is done. I hope to add many more pictures there, and share more pictures that I took from Cape Cod last summer, when I spent a week there.
Anyway, Martha's Vineyard has to be one of my favorite places to travel, along with Cape Cod. I just went to Cape Cod last September and will post some of those pics soon...in the meantime here are some of my favorites from Martha's Vineyard that I took back in Summer of 2001....
This is a picture of the famous cliffs at Aquinnah, an amazing sight on the southwestern tip of Martha's Vineyard...Just being there and seeing the cliffs and being able to see down part of the southern coast of the island is a breathtaking experience...As you can see, the light house sits silently perced atop the clay cliffs.
One of the main features of Martha's Vineyard, and of the trip, was seeing the magnificent gingerbread cottages in the town of Oak Bluffs. I took pictures of some of my favorites:
...and one of my favorites is the famous pink cottage which I always have called the "valentine cottage"...

Martha's Vineyard also has some of the most stunning ocean-views and sunsets, and here are some of the sunsets that I captured while coming home on the boat...

That last one I think captures the setting sun off the coast in its absolute beauty and I'm so glad I could capture that moment (although I was sad to be leaving the island.)

As you can probably tell, I love the ocean and the beach!

Another one of my favorite things are butterflies. They are one of my favorite symbols,
and I collect a lot of things with butterflies on them....,

I've listed, I could list cats as my favorite animals; two in particular.
These two cats I've had for almost 14 years now, and they are a mother and daughter.
"Mama" cat is a gorgeous velvet black cat with golden eyes...
Her daughter,"Lucy"(named after Lucille Ball), is a calico orange, brown,
yellow, and white striped kitty.

They both definitely have minds of their own and are real characters!!!
