Walt Disney has a team of people which do planning, creative developement, design, engineering, production, project management, and reasearch and developement of all Walt Disney Products. These Products include everything from the stores they sell toys in, to the movies they make and even the rides they provide at their famous Walt Disney theme parks. Walt Disney calls this team their Imagineers. The definition of imagineering, according to Walt Disney, is "a blend of imagination and technical know-how.Such combination utilized in creation of Disney theme parks and attractions..."
Walt Disney created the imagineer team in 1952 and they were setup to design and create Disneyland, however, they further developed into Disney's in-house design company and are able to make Walt Disney's dreams come true. They are staffed with designers, technicians, and administrators that create magic everyday. Walt Disney then teamed up with the imagineers and created animatronics in 1964. The first creation of animatronics was a tap dancing robot named Buddy Ebsen. He then went on to create tons on animatronic characters and set them in a revolving theater as a show. Animatronics went on to help develop hit movies such as Disney's Toy Story and Finding Nemo which have been collaberations with Pixar animations.
The Imagineers have also produced many of the rides tof the Walt Disney theme parks such as Rock 'n' Roller Coaster Starring Aerosmith in MGM Studios, GM Test Track in Epcot, Space Mountain and Splash Mountain in Magic Kingdom, Grand Prix racetrack in Magic Kingdom, Pirates of the Caribbean, Tower of Terror in MGM just to name a few. The Imagineers also help create every aspect of the Disney cruise lines and resorts. The Imagineers have the been foundation of everything that captures the heart, the spirt, and the meaning of Disney. They have been able to create a world that seems so real when infact it is your imagination brought to life by technology and art.. |
