This is the sign just outside of Phelps, Wisconsin, population 400. I think they were a little optamistic in their description of the town. It is beautiful, but not exactly the "destination of my dreams".

I went to Phelps, Wisconsin in the summer of 1997 to visit with family, and for my grandfather's 90th birthday. It is a small town close to the Michigan border, full snomobiles in the winter and fishermen in the summer.
Here is the cabin we stayed in while we honeymooned on Saltspring Island (a 1-1/2 hr ferry ride from Vancouver) in November 1998. Note the complete lack of snow.

It had a beautiful view, overlooking the water between Saltspring and Vancouver Islands.
Here's a look at the main strip...

So far we haven't been anywhere else, but are looking forward to our trip to Ontario in the summer of 2001.
