"walked we not in the same steps?"

"walked we not in the same steps?" An interesting imperative statement, simple through it is. It is thought provoking nonetheless. The question comes in a flurry of questions and can sometimes be over looked. This question seems to have a pleading tone, which suggests that Paul was hoping to awaken sympathy and guilt in the Corinthians to help them in their walk. "walked we not in the same steps?" he is asking are we not walking along the same path? Well, yes we are!

We are walking towards the kingdom along a well trodden narrow path. The words were to encourage them along that path. The Corinthians were becoming weak and miserable due to trials they were facing.

We like them reach spiritual lows, but we also reach spiritual highs. Paul wanted to remind them of the joy they should take in the fact we are not alone in our walk. We are following the path Jesus showed us and though we cannot place our footfalls in the exact place his steps fell (as we have sinned and continue to sin) we follow the steps nonetheless.

It is a hard task to follow Jesus. Sheep are not as intelligent as the Shepherd that shows them the way. Sheep will wander away and try a different path, often this leads to a near fatal accident for the sheep, and the Shepherd has to go and help.

We also are like sheep we often think we know a better way, thinking that our minds will lead us through and we hall not be tempted. We are like the Corinthians! We are weak and need encouragement, we need to remember Paul's words.

If we remember we do not walk alone and that our brethren and sisters are there to help us, we can overcome our weakness. We should continue to read the words of Father. "walked we not in the same steps?" and we should rejoice at following Christ.
