Living Water
Luke 22 vs 10 "And he said unto them, Behold, when ye are entered into the city, there shall a man meet you, bearing a pitcher of water; follow him into the house where he entereth in."
Just a small simple verse, easily passed over. Look at the verse is there anything unusual about it? No, you are right, however, looking closer you will find that Jesus was commanding his disciples to follow a man "bearing a pitcher of water". 'So what?' I hear you say. THINK! Do we not also have to follow a man bearing water, not water of this world, but the living water?
Yes? We can take from this verse a small exhortation about following the Lord. John 4 gives us the most memorable mention of living water. Jesus was speaking to a woman of Samaria as he said "...whosoever drinketh of the water that I shall give him shall never thirst; but the water that I shall give him shall be in him a well of water springing up into everlasting life." Jesus has the water, the living water to give, to bear. We must follow him as the disciples followed the man in Luke 22 "bearing the the pitcher of water" to prepare the way for the Master.
Our roles are now reversed Jesus has gone before us, bearing the water of eternal life that we shall attain when the Lord returns to the earth. We shall have eternal life if we have followed him and in that day we shall rejoice and praise our Father in Heaven.
So, we have to follow our Lord, who died for us, in all his ways, strive for forgiveness, reach the Judgement in the day of his return and then finally we shall receive the living waters.
