Have no offence!

Acts 25 vs 7-8 "And when he was come, the Jews which came down from Jerusalem stood round about, and laid many and grievous complaints against Paul, which they could not prove. 8 While he answered for himself, Neither against the law of the Jews, neither against the temple, nor yet against Caesar, have I offended any thing at all."

Everyone knows the story about Saul changing from persecuting the Christians to being one of the driving forces behind the Christian movement in the first century. Saul was one of the most feared men in the Middle-East and he had done many things which he thought were right, which were actually quite horrific.

Yet here when Paul (as he was now named) was being interviewed by Agrippa, Festus and many others was able to say he had offended no one "at all". Rightly he hadn't. The Jews "could not prove" the things they accused him of. This meant they (The Jews) had to listen to Paul and his argument. They had nothing that could say he was blaspheming and Agrippa went as far to say that "Almost thou [Paul] persuadest me to be a Christian.". Agrippa recognised Paul had no fault in preaching the name of Jesus Christ as Agrippa saw that Paul could prove through the scriptures that Jesus is the Saviour of the World.

We should be like Paul, having no offences and allowing no proof that the World can use against us (meaning do not sin as they do). If we do allow it preaching is of none effect, and they shall just say 'You have sinned the same sin that you want us to stop committing' How can we answer that?

Follow your convictions and stay strong walking in the Lord's way so that they shall "not prove" the accusations they shall bring up against you. Remember to follow the Lord, but also remember that we all sin and God will forgive us.
