God the Omnipresent!

Jonah 1 vs. 3 “But Jonah rose up to flee unto Tarshish from the presence of the Lord,..”

Jonah tried to run from God’s sight because he feared what God sent him to do (Go to Nineveh and rebuke the people). How many times have you thought ‘No one will see’? I know I have, the subject usually being a piece of Birthday cake. The point is someone will see, He always sees and knows.

The Lord is present with us always. Is that a bad thing? If we sin, yes because we cannot hide from him (Which is why we need to be baptized) remember Ananias and Sapphira they died trying to hide something from God, (They were the couple who hid that they wished to keep some money back, instead of telling the apostles – Acts 5). Jonah nearly died along with the others on the ship. God does not ask for a lot he merely wishes us to confess that we need forgiveness of the sins He knows we’ve already committed.

The good side to God being all around us, all the time is that we are never alone! (Your going senile I hear you say!) It’s true (not that I am senile) when things go wrong in our lives we always have God guiding us through “During your times of trial and suffering, when you see only one set of footprints, it was then that I carried you.” (Footprints – poem).

God is omnipresent and we should always remember this, so when you feel lonely and down He is always with us protecting us from snide comments, and when we feel guilty He is with us encouraging us to let him know we want and need His mercy and forgiveness.
