Ezekiel 39 vs 7 “..and
the heathen shall know that I am the Lord, the Holy One of
It is interesting to note that the word heathen
in this verse had be changed for gentiles. This then shows what I wish to think
on. A thousand years (or more) ago the Jews were the chosen nation of God, but
in Matthew 21 we see that this was to change. (Matt 21 vs 43) “Therefore say I unto you, The kingdom of God shall be
taken from you, [The Jews] and given to a nation [The Gentiles] bringing forth
the fruits thereof.” Now you are probably beginning to understand the
quotation I began with.
So, (you are thinking) why talk about us knowing
God? Surely, we know him. Yes WE do, but do the people around you in the street
or at school know him? Have you told them about the Lord God our Father? If so,
then brilliant you are doing precisely what Jesus commanded us to do. Preach!
If not then why not? Are you afraid that you will be persecuted? This did not
stop the disciples did it? In Acts chapter four we see that Peter and John are
placed in prison, because of their preaching, they did not fear to be there,
they even preached to the council who expected them to apologise for their
actions. Do not fear to bring people to God, because you are afraid at how they
will take what you say. We know God but they do not, it is our duty to bring
people into the knowledge of the Lord.
These people who you tell of God may do one of
two things. They could reject the message you have told them, and so be it
perhaps God has not called them yet, or they do not wish to heed the call, it
is their choice you cannot tell them how to receive his word. However, they
could understand and heed the call, then knowing that they must obey Jesus’
words be baptized. These are the same things that we must decide whether to
hear His call or not.
So
after we have known God and heeded His call what then? “Therefore say I unto
you, The
