The silly sentence to remember when converting SI units is

To convert from one Metric (or SI) measurement to another, ask yourself the following questions:

1)      What unit am I given to begin with?

2)      Where is the decimal?

3)      What unit am I trying to get to?

4)      How many spaces do I have to move the decimal? (to get from the unit I’m given to get to the unit asked for)

Then move your decimal that number of spaces and put the correct unit in place.
