AUTHOR'S NOTE: This story is of my own plot. It is somehow written like a novel, a really long story. The characters that I use in this novel like fanfic is copyright to the respective people who created them. The main character that I'm using mostly is Dias Flac. *Sue me, I couldn't resist writing on something centering around him. Who told him to be my favourite RPG Character ^_^* One warning; expect the unexpected!

7 years after Star Ocean: The Second Story. An evil even more powerful than the Ten Wise Men is about to unleash their wrath on the 12 heroes. Their power, greater than the Ten Wise Men, intend to take over the Universe. Only the power of the Guardians can stop them. But a battle with the same evil millions of years ago had left them powerless, their only remains of their power in the form of Runes. Only through a human, a living being, only then their power can be summoned. So, who has been chosen by destiny? Only through the Destined One, can their power be called forth…

Chapter 1 - Properchy of the Destined One

"FIREBALL!" A fireball spell incinerated a group of monsters.

"LEAF SLASH!" Ashton yelled as he disappeared and reappeared behind his target.

"BURST RONDO!" A barrage of small fireballs pushed back the largest monster among the group, the only one left. Ashton moved behind it and slashed it with his Melufa.

The monster turned around suddenly and grabbed the Hearldic Knight. Then it threw Ashton towards Dias. He leapt backwards to avoid being slammed into by Ashton.

"Ashton! Are you alright?" Dias asked.

"Ouch! That was uncalled for," Ashton replied grumpily trying to get up. It seems that he has a slight injury after being thrown to the ground.

"Hang on, I'll heal you," Dias replied. "CURE LIGHT!"

Ashton started to get up. But then Dias noticed that the monster is raising his hands into the air. Being the experienced Swordsman he is, he grabbed Ashton by the hands and used the Levitation spell to fly into the air, just as the monster slammed it's arms down onto the ground, causing a massive Earthquake.

"Wow," Ashton commented. "It seems that this monster has lots of brute strength."

"Yes," Dias replied. "It may have brawn, but does it have brain?"

"Perhaps not," Ashton replied, looking at Dias, smiling.

Dias hovered above the monster with Ashton still in his hands. "Ashton away!" He yelled. Ashton pointed both of his Melufa down on the monster and stuck them into both of it's arms. The monster was crying out very loudly in pain.

"That should show you to never mess with the two of us!" Ashton yelled at it.

"Darkness beyond twilight, crimson beyond blood which flows, buried in the flow of time, in thy great name, I pledge myself to darkness. Let those who stand before me be destroyed by the power which you and I possess!"

Dias looked down. "Ashton, let go of it now!" Ashton nodded and yanked his swords from the monster and did a back flip away from it. "DRAGON SLAVE!" The powerful Black Magic slammed into the monster and totally incinerated it.

"That will show that monster never to mess with us," Ashton said triumphantly as Dias landed beside him.

"Let's go back to Arlia already," Dias said.

"Mommy! Mommy! When are we going to eat!" Aelia asked.

"Very soon, Aelia dear, just be paitent," Rena replied. "Now go sit with your father and brother. I'll bring the food very soon."

"Okay!" Aelia replied.

"Those monsters really got on my nerves," Ashton was complaining as he stepped into Claude and Rena's house. Rena had invited Ashton and Dias over for dinner.

"Yeah, whatever," Dias replied. "You don't have to repeatedly complain to me."

"Don't you think it's strange?" Ashton asked. "The monsters have gotten considerably very much stronger the past few days."

"Yes, you're right about that," Dias replied. "Could it be some sort of omen?"

Rena brought the food to the table. "I see you two made it. The two of you are always busy with other things I thought that you may not be able to make it for dinner tonight."

"It seems that you two came upon a lot of trouble today," Claude commented.

"Yeah," Ashton replied. "There was this really large group of monsters lead by a really large monster and it had a lot of brute strength…"

"It seems that it's going to be a long dinner," Dias muttered.

******

"That was a really long dinner," Dias muttered to himself as he washed up and got ready to go to bed. "But still, what is the significance of all this? There are more monsters than usual for the past few days and they have gotten considerably stronger. I never had to use the Dragon Slave to destroy just one monster. Still…"

"Remember the prophecy which I've told you about 3 years ago?"

"Huh? What?" Dias asked as he picked up the Amulet which he carries with him ever since he found it.

"You have forgotten already?"

"No, it's not that, but I still can't believe it," Dias replied, sighing. "You must have made a mistake or something. I'm not the person you want."

"But you must accept your Destiny!"

"Destiny? How fitting for someone who controls Destiny!" Dias mocked.

"I've told you before, I don't control Destiny. I guard it."

"It's no use, Omni. If he does not accept it, then there is nothing we can do."

"But Tria, the Universe will be destroyed!" Omni expressed with concern.

"So what?" Tria replied. "We can always get some other person that has fought the Ten Wise Men before, someone who will accept it!"

"Get another person? GET ANOTHER PERSON? Do you not know that none of the others has magic power as strong as him!" Omni yelled.

"You only picked me because of my abilities?" Dias spoke. "That is the lamest excuse I've ever heard!"

"No, not only your abilities, but something else which you hold very strongly in your heart." Omni replied.

"What is it then?" Dias looked up.

"I cannot tell you. You have to find it on your own." Omni replied. Then the two Guardians disappeared.

"Me? Hold something strongly in my heart?" Dias said to himself. "From as far as I know, I don't have such quality. Only the others have something like that." And he lay down on his bed thinking about it.

******

"Ya! We're going for a picnic today!" Aelia yelled happily.

"Now, now Aelia, go and sit down and wait for your father," Rena said. "Grandma will be ready with the food very soon."

Soon, they were downstairs and Claude had came back with the food which Westa had prepared for the picnic for the family. Soon, they were out of the house and were heading towards the Shingo Forest. On the way, they met up with a rather distracted Dias. Noticing it, Rena had asked for Claude to bring the two kids to the forest first. She was concerned for her 'Big Brother'.

"Good Morning, Dias," Rena greeted.

"Morning to you too, Rena," Dias replied, returning the greeting.

"What's the matter?" Rena asked. "You look like you're thinking very hard."

"It's nothing," Dias replied.

"Your actions tell me otherwise, Dias," Rena replied. "If it's anything I can help out with, you can tell me."

"It's personal," Dias replied. "But have you ever heard of the prophecy of the Destined One?"

"Hmm, I kinda remember hearing about it while we were on Nede," Rena replied. "Does it have anything to do with what is happening the past few days?"

Dias nodded. "Every word of the prophecy has happened up until now. All those monsters that Ashton and I had to kill. We had to lure them away from towns so that I can use the Dragon Slave to destroy them. This is a sign that they are becoming stronger. Recall the prophecy."

Rena nodded as she tried to recall. But she could only recall bits and pieces of it. "No good, I can't seem to remember."

Dias started reciting it to her. "Guardians had fought against an evil that was powerful enough to enslave the Universe. After a long battle, the Guardians had won and trapped the evil. But they had been left almost powerless. The last of their power had been sealed away in Runes, so that when the evil had awaken once more, the evil can be combated. The first signs of their awakening, monsters grow stronger, so that they can serve the evil. No ordinary mortal can destroy the evil, the evil which is known as the Dark Lords. Only the Guardians can combat them. But they were left almost powerless during the last battle, only through a mortal, their power can be channelled and summoned. When the time comes, Destiny will summon thee to battle the Dark Lords."

"Wow, that is one long prophecy," Rena commented. "If this is true, then who is the Destined One? We do not know, right? Of course if we knew, we would try to help that person in anyway we can, right?"

"……"

"I'd better be going now," Rena said. "Claude and the kids are waiting for me at the Shingo Forest."

"I'm sorry Rena," Dias muttered into the air. "I know who the Destined One is better than anyone else. And who knew Tria was a Guardian? We Expellians had always looked upon him as a God."

******

"Hmm, this is interesting. After our long sleep, much has happened."

"Yes. Planet Nede is no more. And apperently, some Nedians had survived."

"We have got two of them already. If we can get the last one, the strongest of the three surviving Nedians, nothing can really stop us."

"One of the three Nedians has got to be the Destined One."

"Yes. But what if it is not a Nedian?"

"It's got to be a Nedian for they are the strongest of creatures in the Universe. Now, go and capture the last Nedian."

"Yes Sire."

"Ha, Ha, Ha. All of the Dark Lords will awaken one by one and enslave the Universe!"

******

"It's a fine day, is it not, Claude?" Rena asked.

"Nothing like quality family time together," Claude commented. "Your mother's food is as superb as before, isn't it?"

"Nothing like crashing a party, isn't it?" A voice boomed.

"What in Expel?" Claude started.

"Ahh, Claude! Help!" Rena yelled.

Claude drew his Eternal Sphere. "Let her go!"

"Who are you to command me, Earthling? Take her back to our master!"

"Yes, my Lord."

"Damn it," Claude replied.

"I believe that you're one of the twelve that had fought and defeated the Ten Wise Men. And you have the honor of being killed by me!"

"Daddy, I'm scared," Aelia said.

"Don't worry, dear," Claude replied. "Stay with your brother. Daddy won't let anything happen to the both of you."

"How brave, but you can never beat me!"

"How would I know if I don't try?" Claude replied.

******

"Curse the Guardians," Dias muttered. He kicked a rock into the river that runs through Arlia. "Why do they have to lose their power? Why must I have so much magic power hidden within?"

"Because you're born with it. And that is destiny." Omni replied.

"Perhaps it would help if you and Tria didn't appear before me unannounced," Dias complained.

"It is not in your place to judge, is it? Omni replied. "But anyway, I've come to tell you that your dear 'little sister' has been captured and taken by one of the Dark Lords along with the other two Nedians on this planet. And the Earthling and the two kids are in danger from one of this Dark Lords servants."

"What in Expel?" Dias muttered and ran towards the Shingo Forest.

"Has he accepted his Destiny, yet?" Tria asked.

"I'm not sure, but he is somewhat going along with it. He will accept it in time. I have faith in him," Omni replied.

"I hope so, for the sake of the Universe," Tria continued.

******

"Ugh." Claude was thrown by the servant into the ground. By this time, he is seriously injured.

"DADDY!" Both Aelia and Justin ran up to Claude's side.

"I-I d-don't think Daddy is going to make it," Claude stammered. "Q-Quickly, run away and ask Big Brother Dias and Ashton to rescue your M-Mommy." By this time, Claude was already coughing out blood.

"No, we want to stay with you!" Aelia cried.

"You must run away!" Claude cried as he started to stand up. "I'll cover your escape!"

"Now die!" The servant shot out a powerful blast.

"SHIELD!" Someone moved in front of father and children. The blast was very strong and it pushed the shielder backwards. "Blast it," Dias muttered and closed his eyes and concentrated more magic power into the protection spell. Then he yelled, "REFLECT!" And the blast got reflected back towards the user.

"Grr, who has come to interfere?" As the dust cleared, the servant noticed another warrior with his hand on the ground after sending back the blast at it. "Another one of the twelve that has defeated the Ten Wise Men? How amusing. I'll kill you too, and master will be so pleased with me."

"Curse you, foul servant of the Dark Lords," Dias muttered.

"You know who I am? How can the weakest of the twelve know who I am?"

"Who cares what you think?" Dias replied. "All the time I've been training, I thought I could only protect myself. But now I know that I can protect others. To hell with you on your defination of weak!" And he drew the Holy Sword Farewell and fired a powerful concentracted Cresent Moon Flash on the servant.

"Looks like you won't fall as easily as the other one." And the two of them started trying to beat the other.

"Daddy! Come on! We'll go home together! Look! Big Brother Dias has came to help!" Aelia cried.

"Yes, tell him to rescue your mommy," Claude said and then he blacked out.

"DADDY! WAKE UP!" Aelia yelled. "COME ON DADDY!" And Justin was a bit too young to really understand what is going on.

Dias turned after hearing Aelia yell. "Good Lord, how much time do I have?"

"Your friend is dying. You must defeat the servant quickly and heal him." Omni said.

"Damn it Omni, how am I supposed to kill him?" Dias snapped back. "I'm very near a town in case you didn't know and I can't use my strongest spells to destroy it!"

"Summon a Guardian, Dias. That will obliterate him and not harm anyone else," Omni replied.

"Thanks a lot, Omni," Dias sulked and pulled out a Rune from his bag. He looked at it. It was the Light Rune. "Great. I had to pull out the correct Rune against a creature weak towards Light."

"So what are you going to try now? Nothing that can destroy me, most probably."

"How wrong you are pal, how wrong you are," Dias said to himself. A aura of magic surrounded him. "Stare Roe, Guardian of Light, by the power granted to me, I summon thee and destroy the foes which stand before me!"

A powerful light appeared and a Stag Beetle appeared in front of the servant. "What in the world, a summon? Is it possible? It can't be! We have made a grave mistake!"

"Go back to where the Dark Lords came from!" Dias yelled. "SOUL DELETER!" The Stag Beetle fired a beam of light from the body and totally erased the servant of the Dark Lord. Stare Roe disappeared and Dias ran to Claude's side.

Aelia was hugging Dias and crying. "Please save Daddy, please," She said.

Dias felt for a pulse. There was one, but very faint. "There is still time," Dias said. "Claude, please hang in there a bit longer, for the sake of your children and Rena." He quickly casted a healing spell to stop the bleeding and carried him back towards Arlia Village with Aelia and Justin following behind.

CHAPTER NOTES: That's it for the first chapter. Well, what do you say? Never mind. This is just the first of the many chapters in this story. Actually it's like a whole new adventure. And I've told you, the Main Character is Dias Flac ^_^. I wonder how many Dias fans are there out there? And as you can see, this can be considered a Crossover. But it is mainly based on the Star Ocean 2 Characters and some of my own characters ^_^
