| The story of Angel and Buffy is one of tragedy and sorrow. This love story of the slayer and her vampire is a similar portrayal of Romeo and Juliet. Just as Romeo and Juliet were sworn enemies but could not help but fall deeply in love, Buffy and Angel were born into their separate worlds to fight each others kind, but they too ignored their destiny and fate to be together. And so it begins On their first meeting, Angel introduced himself as a friend but not necessarily hers. Their next few meetings were Hellmouth related with Angel warning Buffy of upcoming dangers, which would threaten the world. They finally addressed their feelings toward each other while Angel was staying at Buffy's house after he was hurt whilst defending Buffy from the Three. After Angel proclaimed that she invaded his thoughts night and day, they surrended into a kiss which ended with Angel pulling away and revealing his true demonic self. Despite being apart of two different worlds, Angel and Buffy gave in to temptation and kissed once again, initiating their honest and true relationship. Their relationship continued, only getting stronger and stronger, overcoming the many obstacles that come with their situation. On Buffy's seventeenth birthday, Angel and Buffy found themselves alone in Angel's home, proclaimed their feelings for each other and they then slept together. In the early morning, Angel ran out on the street in pain and collapsed. He then appeared to be fine and got himself off the ground. He then turned to a woman on the street and sucked her dry of blood. Something he had not done for eighty years. That was our first but definitely not last look at the ruthless and cruel demon, Angelus. After he brushed her off in the morning saying that it was just a good time and that she was too young to realize that it didn't mean much, Buffy was forced to face the reality that Angel, her Angel, no longer existed. During the night, Buffy was aware of Jenny Calendar in her dream. Her dream about a funeral and Angel's and her relationship. She suddenly realized that Ms. Calendar knew more than she was letting on. She was right. Jenny Calendar, or Janna of the Kaldeash clan was sent to watch over Angel after he killed many of her people. She was also sent to prevent Buffy from getting to close to Angel due to the fact that one moment of pure happiness would reverse the curse and he would once again be soulless. It goes without saying, She failed. Jenny felt it was her responsibility to try and give Angel back his soul. She went to "the local boogady, boogady store"(a magic store) and purchased an orb of Thesulah, a globe like instrument used for the spell of restoration. Sadly, this spell was unable to be done due to the fact that Ms. Calendar was murded by Angelus. After seeing what he was capable of doing to her friends, and when Angel decided to bring forth Armageddon, Buffy finally decided that she was ready to destroy him. During their final fight, Willow performed the spell of restoration after discovering the transcribed text on Jenny Calendar's disk. This worked but with almost more distressing results. Angel had already begun to summon forth the demon Acaltha and there was only one way to prevent Acaltha from destroying the world, through Angel's blood. Buffy was forced to place the sword into the man she loved Angel, not Angelus. Buffy was unable to cope with the fact that she was responsible for killing her boyfriend, so she ran from her problems, but it didn't last long. She came home after three months when she realized she just couldn't escape her problems. She returned to the mansion where she had fought with Angel and said goodbye then placed the ring he had given her for her birthday on the floor. The thing is though, he didn't really die, he was sent to hell and was then returned to Earth a few minutes after Buffy said her goodbye. When Buffy discovered that Angel had returned from hell, she made the decision to neglect to inform anyone. Not her mum, her best friends or her watcher. They continually saw each other, trying to obtain a purely platonic relationship. But when they finally gave into temptation and kissed, Xander was there to witness it. It didn't take long for everybody else to find out. He was no longer her secret. Buffy and Angel continued to fight the demons side by side, as well as attempting to discover a way for them to be together. They decided it would be justifiable if they did date, as long as it didn't go any further than that. But in an attempt to receive information, Angel pretended to have reverted to his old self. This was a painful reminder to Buffy of all that they had endured, and what could be if it did go any further. So, once again, they attempted a a harmless relationship, which eventually began to shatter and display the fact that they loved each other and they could no longer deny it to themselves or others. He became her world. Every thing she wanted and everything she desired was displayed in him. This realization came upon Angel and he came to this conclusion; for her sake, and for his, it was necessary for him to leave. So he did. Thus creating the beginning of a whole new adventure |
