Office computations for Tables 3 and 4

1. Page check: 356.121 + 6.881-9.456 = 353.546

2. Closure (Actual BM elevation is 353.549 m)

            Actual closure: 353.546 – 353.549 = -0.003 m = 3 mm

            Allowable Closure: 12 Ök = 12 *(374/1000)0.5 = 7.34 mm

            Since actual = 3 mm < allowable = 7.34 mm, survey is acceptable

3. Elevation adjustments due to error (rounded to nearest 5mm)

Sample calculation: For TC 23, adjustment = +0.003 *(76/374) = +0.0006 m = +0.000

Note: least count (L.C.) of instrument is 5”; smallest increment of angular measure is 2.5”

1. Misclosure:

            Allowable = 1.5 L.C.Ö3 = 1.5*5”*3.5 = 13”

            Actual = 180º00’02” - 180º00’00” = 0º00’02”

            Since actual = 2” < Allowable = 13”, Survey is acceptable

2. Angle Adjustments

Angle adjustments were made using the average correction method. Angles were rounded to the nearest 2.5” (because this is the smallest increment of angular measure.)

            Average correction per point= Actual error/ number of points  = 2”/3 = 0.667”

Average correction in Table 7 was found by adding the total correction needed for that point. (Error is accumulated)

Shown in Table 10

Elevation of Point S2:

            ELEVS2 = ELEV63 + S sin θ + hi – R

            ELEVS2 = 352.534 + 37.232 (sin 00º03’20”) + 1.383 – 1.478

            ELEVS2 = 352.48 m

Contour Distance:

            DIST = [(Elevcont – ELEV1) / (ELEV2 – ELEV1)] x DIST12

            DIST = [(352.50 – 352.48) / (352.53 – 352.48)] x 37.232

            DIST = 14.89 m

Shown in Table 12

For Line 63-23:

            LAT = L cos θ

            LAT = 92.11 (cos 361.199)

            LAT = 92.089 m

            DEP = L sin θ

            DEP = 92.11 (sin 361.199)

            DEP = 1.927 m

            LAT CORR = -(L/ΣL) (Σ LAT)

            LAT CORR = -(92.11/239.77) (0.00498)

            LAT CORR = -0.0019

            DEP CORR = -(L/ΣL) (Σ DEP)

            DEP CORR = -(92.11/239.77) (0.00009)

            DEP CORR = -0.00004

            ADJ LAT = LAT + LAT CORR

            ADJ LAT = 92.0898 – 0.0019

            ADJ LAT = 92.0879

            ADJ DEP = DEP + DEP CORR

            ADJ DEP = 1.9272 – 0.00004

            ADJ DEP = 1.9272

Shown in Table 13

For Point 23:

            Northing23 = Northing63 + LAT63-23

            Northing23 = 966.305 + 92.087

            Northing23 = 1058.393

            Easting23 = Easting63 + DEP 63-23

            Easting23 = 983.751 + 1.927

            Easting23 = 985.678

            Area of Traverse = |Σ(Xi Yi+1) – Σ(Xi+1 Yi)| / 2

            Area of Traverse = | 2,929,264 – 2,923,973 | / 2

            Area of Traverse = 2,645.78 m^2
