5-)B�OGRAPHY OF KANUN� SULTAN SULEYMAN
I have chosen to do my biography on Kanuni Sultan
S�leyman.I like his lifestyle very much.He was a brave
person, because he arranged 80 campaigns to different
countries and also he managed these campaigns himself.He
battled his enemies with his army.�n addition I have always
been interested in history.Especially I like the Ottoman
Empire and Kanuni was the most famous ruler of the Ottoman
Empire.I Knew his name and all Turkish people knew his
name,but we don't know special things and information from
his life.Therefore I decided to research Kanuni S. S. for this
project.
He was born on 27th April 1495.His father's name was
Yavuz Sultan Selim.Selim was the other famous ruler of
Ottoman Empire who conquered Egypt and Arabia .His
mother's name was Hafsa Sultan.Kanuni was the tenth ruler of
the Ottoman Empire.Also he was the seventy fifth caliph of
the Muslims.Now the Muslims hasn't got a leader like caliphs.
His father died and he took the management of Ottoman
Empire in 30th September 1520 when he was tweney years
old.After 1 year in 1521 he conquered Belgrad.In 1522 he
conquered Rodos where was the center of Mediterranean
Sea's knights.In 1526 he prepared his army for the campaign
to Hungary.His army had 100.000 warriors and 300 cannons.
They started the war in Moha� Lowland and Hungary's army
was defeated in a very short time.This was called Moha� War
which was the biggest ground's war in history.On 20th
September 1526 he entered the capital of Hungary which was
Budin.In 1529 he wanted to conquer Vienna because Vienna
had a stragetical place in Middle Europe.If he conquered
Vienna, Ottoman Empire would dominate all Europe after this
War.�n this case he wanted to envelop Vienna, and he
prepared to this mission.Then he went to this area with his
huge army.Vienna was the last defence of Europe, but
something went wrong in this mission.Because all European
countries sent armies to Vienna and incredible flood became
and all of the cannon sank deeply into the soil.He couldn't do
anything to these incident.In 1534 he conquered Ba�dat and
Basra.In Kerbela where was holy place for Muslims, he visited
Hz. Ali's and Hz. H�seyin's mausoleum.After that he
continued and took the control of Tebriz from Safevi Empire.
Safevi Empire was the large empire which was settled in Iran.
In 1537 he prepared a mission to �taly and,move ahead to
Otranto.After this he took the control of the land.He made a
large empire.
On 27th Septmber 1538 he destroyed the Crusade's
navy in Mediterrenian Sea.The world has never seen the
victory like this.�n Red Sea and �ndian Ocean he wanted to
obstruct Portugal's trade, but he couldn't cope with their navy.Because Ottoman navy was less strong than Portugal's.In
1553 he conquered Estergon Castle.In 1556 he prepared a new
mission to Zigetvar Castle.In this mission he died at the age of
72, but his army didn't know this.They continued and took
control of this castle.
Turkish people called him ''Kanuni and Gazi''.
European people called him ''Suleyman the Magnifecent''.
When he took control of Empire, it had 6.557.000 km2 after
his death, Empire had 14.893.000 km2 .Because of this he was
called magnifecent.
He prepared Ottoman's laws and gathered the laws
into one center.Because of this he was called Kanuni.
In his revolotion science, architecture, social sciences
grew fastly.In �stanbul S�leymaniye Mosque is constructed by
Mimar Sinan.
He was a warrior.In battlefield nobody wanted to fight
or war with him, because his appearance was magnifecent.He
gave large empire and perfect management to other rulers.
I learned a lot of things while I was writing this
Biography.I learned that Kanuni was a perfect person.I think
in Turkish history he is as important as Atat�rk and Fatih
Sultan Mehmet.Furthermore I learned how to write and
organize a biography.
