I've never know where the difference between the two species lay as far as I can tell it's just another name for a wolf shifter, fair? Shifters are led by the Drache Family. This family is decended from the Dragons, one dark dragon was adopted by the witches after they put the species (so they thought, check the dragon page if you have questions) to sleep. Shifters are born what animal they are, Keller panther, Jeremy wolf, and so on. You are what your parents are. The Drache family get to pick what animal they will become, but only one. As the Old Powers revive though if you are a shifter I may be willing to allow another shift or two IF you are a consistant and helpful contributer to the game. Think of it as an incentive, as few games have many shifters. Shifters are vulnerable to silver, and must eat flesh often like vampires need to drink blood. Don't forget You are the Animal and You are the Person. And don't under estimate your half and half form.
Another place where I was confused until Stephanie cleared it up in breaking dawn. The Quilette werewolves ARE SHIFTERS. According to the deffinition given in that book a werewolf switches with the moon and can't control themselves so we have no real werewolves. Just wolf shifters. Tshifters do not need to eat raw flesh, like NW shifters, but the have a crazy high metabolism to explain the increased temperature and the need to eat almost constantly.
