Chapter 27- Late
Night Premonitions
Lily awoke with a
start. So much green, flashing
light…that evil cackle…Lily knew that she, as a Seer, was seeing a
premonition. But she didn’t want to be.
She had been having the same, recurring dream for months, ever since she fell
in love with James, in fact…but she didn’t know what it meant. Could this
future be avoided? She had heard James’
voice calling out to her to leave with their son…Harry? Was that his name? Well, James obviously named the boy. Maybe a
walk can clear my mind…
As she walked down one of the vast,
expansive corridors in her light blue robe and slippers, her mind slipped back
to James. It’s always been about James, she
thought. He’s my other
half…my…everything. But if I stay with him…will this…this future…happen? Will
we be murdered while fighting for our child? I desperately need to talk to
someone…but I can’t tell James, he would get either extremely overprotective of
me or write me off as insane. I don’t
need either of those options right now…I just need someone who will
listen. No questions.
Lily continued walking down the corridor, and soon found herself in Emilia’s wing. The Potter Manor had a wing for each of the residents, and one for guests, Lily found out earlier that day.
How
did I get here? If only Emilia were awake…she would know what to do.
“Lily, honey, is that you?” she
heard a soft voice, undoubtedly Emilia’s, from within her study. Oh,
bloody hell…forgot she was a Seer…she probably knew I’d come to her a couple
months ago for chrissakes…
“Y-yes…Emilia…can I talk to you?”
“Of course, honey, come in.”
Emilia seemed to grasp the seriousness of the situation, and carefully closed the door behind Lily. Emilia led her over to a chair by her fireplace, and said, “Alright, dear.”
Lily decided not to dance around the subject. “You are a Seer, right?” Lily asked quietly.
“Well, I can see futures…I can see pasts…but am often blinded in the present,” was Emilia’s response.
Lily pondered this. Emilia had premonitions, and she could see the past as well, but the present? Of course…Lily and James. Emilia loved Lily, and didn’t want her hurt, but rather, wanted her happy. Emilia knew rather well that James was the only person that kept Lily truly happy…but she also must know their future, as well.
“Then you know? You’ve seen the vision too?” Lily asked quietly, a tear dripping down her eye. She didn’t want it to be real.
“Honey. Future is unavoidable for everyone…you know your future, and I know mine. Some things can’t be changed.”
“But…If I get away…escape from James…he’ll never be hurt!”
“But if you do, my dear, he probably won’t see a reason for living,” Emilia countered in all seriousness, staring at the flames. She knew the terrible reality of the situation. Lily was trying to run from her future, but run with the present, and that never worked.
“Lily, darling. You have two choices…you can run from your future, and leave James heartbroken, or you can run with the present, and meet the end you’ve been tossing and turning about for months.”
“No...There must be some other way,” gasped Lily.
“Unfortunately, honey, futures don’t have a shortcut. I wish they did, for I know my end, and it is one that I would rather not meet.”
“What is it?” Lily asked somberly.
Emia continued in her quiet tone, “Suicide.”
Lily’s eyes began to fill with tears, and she got up to leave the study. “Lily dear, don’t mention it to James…he sees suicide as weakness, I’m afraid.”
Lily Evans turned back. “There is no weakness, Emilia. There is only understanding, and living for the time you can.”
Emilia’s eyes filled up with tears, and she replied, “Yes, dear, you’re quite right. You’ll make a beautiful daughter-in-law.”
They both started crying silently, and Emilia led Lily back to James’ room. “Honey, I don’t trust my son with anyone but you, and I’ve known…I’ve always known…that it would be you. You are his only future…his only present…and his only past. I hope that you love him as I did…when I’m gone.”
Lily nodded vigorously through her tears, and hugged Emilia, telling her good night. Lily was ready for some serious sleep now. She had quite a few things to think about.

I know it’s extremely short…but I wanted this chapter to just be about
Lily and Emilia. Next chapter will be
back to the usual long length, though, I promise ya that.
