Chapter One: Best Friends and Princess Promises

Lily looked out her car window; the old Chevy should be pulling into the station anytime now.  Rain pounded angrily against the glass, and Lily shuddered at what the weather would be like once she arrived at Hogwarts.  Lily Evans was not exactly typical.  She was a witch, and a Muggle-born one at that.  Most wizards thought that made her inferior, and she was not as popular as she would like.  Lily did have quite a few friends though, as she was really a very nice person.

She smiled a bit in the passenger seat at the thought of seeing her best friends again.  Avia and Emia, the Valmont twins, were her best friends.  She could not wait to lay eyes on their bright shining faces and blonde locks again.  Avia and Emia were in fourth years this year, like Lily, and Lily missed them both terribly.  Lily had been at vocal camp all summer, in hopes of becoming a musician.  As much as she loved singing, it did not fill the gap in her heart for her friends.

“Daddy?” she asked her father, the driver.

“Yes, Princess?” was the reply.

“Daddy, are we ever going to be able to have Avia and Emia over?!”

Hayden Evans contemplated this and replied, “Well, dear…we’ll…we’ll see.  You know how your mother is…she never has time for anything.”

Lily sighed. “Yes, Daddy…I know. She’s very involved. But I wish she had time to see me off…I won’t get to see her for a whole year.”

Hayden sighed, and then smiled. He put his arm around his Princess, and softly explained, “Charisse has a lot going on. You know as well as I do that she loves you.”

Lily nodded, and then smiled up at her father. “I love both of you. I’ll miss you while I’m at school.” Hayden smiled and replied, “I know, honey. I know.”

It was 10:45 am at King’s Cross Station.  Lily had to hurry; she wanted to get a good compartment, so she, Emia, and Avia could catch up in private.  She kissed her father’s cheek outside the barrier, and whispered, “I’ll always be your Princess.”  After a quick hug, Lily ran through the barrier, and set off to find a carriage with a nice, spacious, and most importantly, empty compartment.

Lily Evans was getting very frustrated.  There were so many new first years; she couldn’t find ONE empty compartment.  She couldn’t even find the twins.  Lily was getting VERY buggered off. She ran into the first empty compartment and sat down.
