Melanie and John at Mardieyerrup
Mardieyerrup is Noongar Aboriginal for 'walking up a track, looking around'.
This name really suits our place as it is gorgeous Karri forest near Denmark in the south west of Western Australia.
So why is Denmark so great?

The coastline is magnificent with its granite headlands with wide, white sandy beaches in between.  The water can be quite cold, but not compared to Antartica!!!

The land is predominantly rural with marvellous forests of karri, redgum and jarrah.  The bush is fantastically diverse. You can count over 40 species of plant in just a few square metres.

We actually live about 25km out of Denmark, so things are pretty tranquil.  The town itself relies on tourism alot.  The community is diverse and artistic.

Mind you, if you don't switch to 'Denmark Time' you could end up frustrated!
