| Sing a Song of Hope Originally Written: September 20th, 2000 |

| Slaves were walking by,
I couldnt stand to see them go. Running up to them, I gave them some bread, And told them to sing a song of hope, Just sing a song of hope. Soldiers pointed at me and said, Get in line! I dared not disobey. But as we walked through the town I started to sing a song of hope, I sang a song of hope. Working all day, tired all night, Shared the food I had, I would lie in bed as people talked And I would always sing a song of hope, Always a song of hope. Beaten I was, every passing day, Soldiers trying to break my spirit I looked them in the eye and said I would not fall, As I sang my song of hope, As I sang my song of hope. Lying in my bed with food all given and gone, I looked into the faces of love And smiled as I died. I started to sing a song of hope, A soft, dying song of hope. When my breath was gone, The soldiers came bursting in. They taunted and laughed and said, Now wheres your song of hope, slaves, Wheres your song of hope? With tears in their eyes and love in their hearts, They lifted their heads and voices to the sky. Well remember you forever As we sing your song of hope, As we sing your song of hope. |
