The Freimann Family Tree
Notes for Bella SONNENBERGER

Immigration Note
On September 1st. 1939 Leo Katzenberger called Bella in Berlin and told her that she has to leave Germany immediately, on the same day. He said if it wouldn't be that urgent, he would never had called on Shabbath. Bella , her husband and her daughter Roseruth left Germany on that day and were all saved.

"I know that Dad had preceded Mother and me to England and so I think that we went to join him at the Kitchener camp for refugees in Ramsgate on the southern coast of England until he was interned on the Isle of Man from mid 1940 until November 1941. Mother and I were at the Highbury Children's Home, first in London and then evacuated to Bedford. Helen was born in August 1940 and Daddy didn't see her until Nov. 1941.

Mother worked as a children's help at the home. Her cousin, Justin Oettinger, offered Daddy a job in Sheffield and that's how he was released and we were reunited there in February 1942." - Roseruth, January 2002

Welcome to the Freimann family tree web-site. This site contains genealogical data of individuals related to my family , the Freimanns and the Katzenbergers from Germany , as well as my wife's family , the Lasnicks. I wish to thank Thea and Heinz Skyte , who have done a remarkable research on the Jewish Community of Sugenheim, for so generously sharing their "Freimann" data with me. Special gratitude also goes to David Seldner, my friend and cousin , and to Christiane Kohl , for their crucial help and contribution to the "Katzenberger" research. If you have any information or connections to the above individuals, please let me know. Thank you. Joach Freimann , Israel.
