Joseph Lucien Thomas Maurice

After a lengthy illness, Thomas
Maurice died on January 14, 2006 at his home. He was born in Vendée,
Quebec, on March 11, 1924 to Ada (Nantel) and Archeste
Lafantaisie-Maurice. He came from a family of 11 children, all of whom
predeceased Mr. Maurice. He was also predeceased by his children Lucien,
Rita, Lucienne and Thérèse, granddaughter Paulette and son-in-law Dale
Cooke Jr.
Mr. Maurice married Marie-Jeanne Beaudry on April 25, 1945. He
is survived by his wife and his children Roger (Claire Roy),
Marie-Paule (Rhéal Béland), Gérald (Joe), Armand (Monique Gauthier),
Paul (Linda Blain), Denise (Bruce Potts), Annette (Marcel Lamontagne).
Laurette, Yvon (Shelley Rundle) and Arthur (Sylvie Bergeron); 42
grandchildren and 24 great-grandchildren.
The funeral was arranged by
Perrin Funeral Chapel and the service was conducted at Église
Sacré-Coeur by Father Richard Ngoy. The eulogy was presented by his son
Yvon, the cross was carried by his grandson Maxime Maurice, the coffin
bouquet was carried by his granddaughter Nicole Cooke, other floral
arrangements by grandchildren Daniel Gauvreau and Zachary and Megan
Moeltner. The Pascal candle was lit by his grandson Marc Beaudry.
Readings were delivered by Katry Montigny and granddaughter Line Rivard.
Collectors were grandsons Claude, Louis and Jacques Maurice and
granddaughter Bonnie-Lynn Moeltner. Pallbearers were grandsons Jean,
Marc, Michel, Luc and David Maurice, Marc Beaudry, James Cooke and
Stéphane Gauvreau. Musician and singer was Josée Gauvreau, servants were
Juliette and Paul Coté.
Burial will be at the Earlton Cemetery.
Relatives and friends came from Ottawa, North Bay, Thornloe, Earlton,
New Liskeard, Englehart, Nipigon, Dorion, Thunder Bay, Swastika,
Matachewan, St. Bruno de Guigues, Notre Dame du Nord, Hawkesbury,
Lachute, Montebello and Lac des Plages.
Expressions of sympathy in
memory of Mr. Maurice to the Lung Foundation or a charity of choice
would be appreciated by the family. The family of Thomas Maurice
expressed their appreciation for the care and thoughtfulness shown by
Dr. B. Primrose, Extendicare, Nicole Lachapelle and the supply nurses,
CCAC staff Johanne Crick and Colette Bélanger. Thanks and appreciation
is extended to everyone for their heartfelt condolences and prayers in
the family’s time of sorrow, special thanks for Father Richard Ngoy, all
those who provided flowers, donations and sympathy cards and the ladies
for the lovely lunch. Most of all, the family thanked their mother for
her courage, strength, care, commitment and devotion. Remember me with
love, not tears, and think of all the happy years.
