Military honors will be accorded Gunner Samuel E. Dufresne, young
Pembroke soldier, who died yesterday in the military hospital at
Petawawa camp following an operation.
The funeral will take place Saturday morning from the home of his
mother-in law, Mrs, P. Meilleur, 1039 Pembroke street west, to the
Church of the Holy Name, and burial will be in the Roman Catholic
cemetery.
A guard of honor from his unit, "B" Battery, R.C.A., will be present,
with a firing squad and the band of the R.C.H.A. and requiem mass will
be sung by Capt. the Rev. C. Cahill.
Born at Rapides des Joachims, Que, 24 years ago, Gnr. Dufresne was a
son of Mr. and Mrs George Dufresne now residents of Pembroke. He lived
here seven years prior to enliting last January and had been employed
by the Pembroke Milling Co.
Surviving, besides his parents, are his widow, formely Miss Margaret
Meilleur of Pembroke ; one brother, Pte. Leo Dufresne of the Midland
Regiment on the east coast, and one sister, Miss Yvette Dufresne,
Pembroke.
