RITA K. MEILLEUR

Rita K. Meilleur, 83, of Shelburne died Friday, July 16, 2010 at her home surrounded by her loving family. She was born in Proctor on Sept. 5, 1926, the only child of James and Evelina (Godard) Kelly.

She moved to Shelburne in 1930 when her parents purchased the family farm on Spear Street. Rita was a 1945 graduate of Mount St. Mary's Academy, after which she worked for several years at New York Life. In 1956, she married her longtime sweetheart, Vic, and began raising her family. Rita was a lifelong member of St. Catherine of Siena's Parish in Shelburne, and a longtime volunteer at the Shelburne polls.

Rita will be remembered as a devoted and loving wife, mother and grandmother. She is survived by her children, Lil and Kevin Cieplicki of South Burlington, Diane and Matt Terrigno of Westlake, OH, Jo-Anne and Ed Precourt of Shelburne, Rene and Dawn Meilleur of Swanton, Vicki and Robert Clark of Newtown, Conn., and Ron of Shelburne ; and by 15 grandchildren. They are : RJ and Lyndsay Meilleur, Abby, Kyle and Sam Cieplicki, Matthew and Andrew Terrigno, Justin and Mitchell Precourt, Allie, Matt and Taylor Meilleur, Josh Jewett, and R.H. and Julia Clark. She is also survived by two sisters-in-law, Bertha DeLaricheliere and Aline Meilleur. She was predeceased by her beloved husband, Vic, and two of their children, Teresa and Roger.

The family wishes to extend their thanks to the many wonderful doctors and caregivers who have helped Rita and her family through the last several months. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in St. Catherine of Siena Church in Shelburne on Monday, July 19 at 10 a.m. with burial to follow in Resurrection Park Cemetery, South Burlington. At her request, there will be no calling hours. Arrangements are in the care of Ready Funeral & Cremation Service South Chapel, 261 Shelburne Road, Burlington. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Shelburne Rescue, P.O. Box 254, Shelburne, VT 05482.
