Eddy was an avid outdoorsman, who with his buddies, enjoyed many years of fishing, hunting and trapping. He served his country during the Second World War from 1943 to 1946, was wounded in action, thankfully surviving to pursue a busy life, raising his children and engaging in a wide range of community activities. He worked 37 years as a "papermaker" for the Abitibi Paper Mill, was well respected by his co-workers and retired in 1978 at the age of 62. In his later years, he could be found quietly tending his garden, tippling and smoking fish.

A Memorial Mass will be celebrated on Thursday, August 1 at 2:00 p.m. at Notre Dame du Laus Roman Catholic Church, Powerview, MB. with Rev. Fr. James Gray the celebrant. There will be a prayer service prior to the mass at 1:30 p.m. also at the church. Interment will follow in the Notre Dame du Laus Roman Catholic Church Cemetery.
