NOTICES NÉCROLOGIQUES

ALBERT PELLAND

1917 - 2003

2003-02-04
Peacefully on February 1, 2003, at 85 years of age, Albert Henri Joseph Pelland passed away, with his loving wife Georgianna and family at his side. Albert is survived by eight of his nine children, Lucille (Denis), Henri (Irene), Terri, Armand (Helen), Paul (Jean), Maurice (Dolores), Aline (Gilbert), Jackie (Claude). He is also survived by his only sister Rita L'Hereux and many, many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and numerous nephews, nieces and cousins. By the grace of God, Albert is now in the company of his son and our Angel, Bertrand. Albert was born in Silver Plains on April 21, 1917. He was the eighth child of Theodore and Albina Pelland. He was predeceased by his brothers, Jean Baptiste, Adolphe, Emile, Cerile, Pierre, Andre, Paul, Arthur, Dave and Adrien.

He came to St. Georges at the age of 23 to work as a farm hand and met his wife Nana. Shortly after they wed. Two months before his first child was born he was drafted into the Army where he was posted in Vernon, BC for for basic training. He was then stationed in Wainwright, AB, as a member of the PPCLI. He was then shipped overseas where he spent time in Holland and England. Upon his discharge from the Army, he returned to his wife and family who now resided in Powerview, MB. Albert spent the next 33 years of his life employed by Abitibi Paper Company. Upon his retirement, he spent every moment enjoying life to its fullest. He spent his retirement travelling with his "Nana" and special brother-in-law and sister-in-law. Precious memories were made on these trips... He travelled great distances to golf with friends and his brother Paul many times. Often he came home with trophies for his efforts. He also joined the local senior curling and bowling leagues in town. His love for the great outdoors was evident in the care he took of his yard and roses. He spent his healthy years fishing and hunting with friends and relatives. He was an avid believer in walking and could often be heard telling his girls, "never mind dieting, just start walking!" He was a Jack of all Trades and never refused to help anyone who came to him with something to be built or repaired. But most of all he is remembered for his great sense of humour, (which his grandchildren were usually the brunt of), his patience, his kindness and most of all his compassion for others.

What a great example you have been for us Dad. May we always try to continue to set this example with our families and friends. You will never be forgotten, our memories of you will live on in all the good things that we do. Until we meet again.... Love, your children.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday, February 6 at 2:00 p.m. from the Notre Dame du Laus Roman Catholic Church, Powerview, MB, with Fr. James Gray officiating. Prayers will be said at 1:30 p.m. Services will terminate at the church with cremation to follow.

GEORGIANNA "Nana"
THERESE MARIE PELLAND
(nee VINCENT)

October 06, 2004
Georgianna peacefully left this earth on October 4, 2004 taking with her a "special" day of music sung and shared by the family she loves so. Nana is predeceased by her loving husband Albert; her angel son Bertrand; her parents, Raoul and Marie Louise Vincent; brothers, Jean Paul and Ronald Vincent. Georgie is survived by eight of her nine children, Lucille (Denis), Henri (Irene), Armand (Helen), Paul (Jean), Maurice (Delores), Aline (Gilbert), Jackie (Claude) as well as numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren, relatives and friends. She also leaves be hind her precious sisters, brothers and their spouses.

Georgie was born in St. Georges, MB on November 26, 1923. She was the eldest of 15 children. Many fond memories were shared with her siblings and parents on their farm. Nana attended L'Ecole Menagere in St. Boniface and returned home where she met and married Albert Pelland on October 21, 1941. They were soon blessed with their own little family devoting herself to her children and husband. Preparing and sharing many meals for family and friends was a special joy for mom and was happily enjoyed by all. We have many fond and joyful memories of our time together. Music was always a large part of these gatherings. A very special activity of Georgie's was teaching Catechism to her little students. Among her many pastimes there was one she especially enjoyed and that was watching TV and chatting with beloved friend "Claude".

The family wish to convey a heartfelt thank you to all the family and friends who helped make mom's journey a memorable one. Special blessings to the Doctors and Nursing Staff for their loving care.

"Mom, we always knew that you were an angel. Till we can all be together again, love your family".

Cremation has taken place and a Celebration of her life will be held on Friday, October 8, 2004 at 2:00 p.m. from the Notre Dame du Laus Roman Catholic Church, Powerview, MB with Fr. James Gray presiding. Interment of her cremated remains will be in the Pine Falls Cemetery along with her loving husband Albert.
