First two in our unit to go home after the war was over. Laughs, they were sure glad to get out of there! It was nice to see them go as it told the rest of us that it was only a matter of time and we would all be home. This is where I made friends with Saudi Military Guards and got to drink Camels milk and eat a plant that grows in the desert that tastes like lemons and we talked (yes in English) about customs, religion and smoked (sp?)"sheesha" from a Hooka looking water pipe called a (sp?)"hobbly bobbely". Sheesha is made from tobacco and wet fruit mixed together and the put on a plate over hot coals and one breaths in the smoke that has been cooled by the water in the pipe. It was interesting as I didn't smoke normally the effect was probably more on me than it would have been normally. Oh and the name for "cat" in Arabic is pronounced the same way in Spanish for the same word.. odd.. wonder if there is a connection somewhere in the history of the languages. Course it "looks" nothing like it on paper but then again that the language is written the other direction and is read from what we would consider back to front may have something to do with that.
