JAT 09: We Got A System

I stood up and looked out one of the buses tinted windows. Joel, Benji, and Tony were laughing, and Im assuming joking around, with a group of girls who were all very underdressed and Im guessing underage. Paul had left over an hour ago to get food from a 24-hour restaurant with a few other very devoted and underdressed fans. He called me a couple of minutes ago saying he was on his way back. Billy is the only one with sense. He signed a few autographs after the show then went straight to his bunk for some sleep.

I watched as Tony reached down and grabbed the last bottle of Smirnoff ice from the case by his feet. He twisted off the cap and handed it to one of the girls. She smiled brightly and slipped it in the pocket of her too tight low rider jeans. No doubt shell go home and constantly tell her friends, and complete strangers, how the cute lead singer of MEST (like whats his name again?) personally gave it to her.

Hey did Lacie call while I was gone? Paul stepped on the bus and walked back towards the bunks. He paused in the front of me long enough to ask the question.

No. Why would she call here is you had your cell phone with you? I leaned over so I could see back to where he was standing in front of his bunk. Paul pulled his cell phone out of his hoodie pocket and waived it in the air.

Batteries dead.

You want me to charge it for you?

Uhyeah. But leave it turned off. It holds the charge better that way.

I stepped into the isle and caught the phone when he threw it to me. He watched as I plugged it in. Once he was satisfied I did as he asked and left the phone off, he crawled into his bunk and closed the curtain.

I shook my head, unplugged the phone and turned it on. Just as I suspected the battery was almost fully charge. I turned it off and placed it back on the counter.

Hey Paul. I picked my phone up from the table and walked back to his bunk. He opened his curtain and peeked his head out. You might wanna call her and tell her your battery died. Ive had my phone off for the last 20 minutes cause Steve kept calling and bugging me.

I handed my phone to him and he looked away guiltily. We both knew my phone wasnt off. Steve would kill me if it were. Thanks.

I shut his curtain and went back to the front of the bus. I turned off my laptop and decided it was time to go.

As I stepped off the bus, I was shot a few dirty looks from some of the girls. Theyre just jealous cause I have more clothes on than they do. Its hot during the days but around 2 oclock in the morning it gets a little chilly.

Tony was leading the girls in a pop song sing-a-long, while Benji laughed hysterically. Joel, the ever-faithful boyfriend that he is (note the sarcasm), was sweet talking one of the girls a few feet away from the group. You know it amazes me how Paul and Joel are so worried their girlfriends will think they are screwing me, but yet they have no issues with disappearing for long periods of time with the groupies. Go figure.

Hate to break up the party with all the bitches and hos Cue dirty looks. but its time to move out.

As I stepped back on the bus, all three men began hugging each of the girls and handing out empty promises to remember them next time they come to town. One by one they boarded the bus and we finally left the venue.

Hey Amy, can I sleep in your bunk tonight? I could barely understand what Benji was saying between Tonys version of N Syncs Pop and Joels laughter. I knew I shouldnt have agreed to let Tony drink, but Benji said hed clean up any and all puke. Unfortunately I have to listen to Tony sing all night.

With me? Why?

Tonys been drinking. Obviously. Like I said last night I dont want to be molested in my sleep.

Yeah no booty hole sex on the bus! Joel yelled as he got in his bunk.

You cant sleep on the couch in the back?

Amy, its a couch. He whined like a 5 year old. Lord forbid he have to sleep on a couch for once.

Alright. Get an extra pillow and blanket from the back.

Benji walked to the back lounge, grabbed a pillow and blanket, threw them in my bunk then disappeared into the bathroom.

I went back to my bunk and began fixing the pillows and blankets. While I was doing that Tony, who had only moments earlier been staggering around the bus, stood up from the table and walked a perfect sober-straight line (field sobriety style) to Benjis bunk.

He winked and flashed me his toothy grin. You can thank me later.

As Benji opened the restroom door, Tony snapped back into drunk mode and got in the bunk, being sure to make it look like he was having a difficult time. Benji just ignored his friend and hopped into my bunk.

I went over to Tonys bunk and shot him my best look of disapproval. In return he let out a quiet laugh and rolled over shutting his eyes. I closed his curtain and returned to my bunk.

Benji was already lying under his cover in the middle of the bunk; his arms folded beneath his head to prop himself up a bit. I slipped off my long sleeve tee shirt revealing a green tank top and climbed into the bunk.

Nice pants. Benji pointed out the black pajama bottoms I was wearing. They had little green frogs and yellow duckies all over them.

I scrunched my face. I think theyre cute.

You would.

Hey! I have better fashion sense than you and Joel do.

Dont go sticking me with bad clothing taste just because Joel wore that hideous Fendi jacket in The Anthem video. This coming from the man who openly refers to his cut off dickies as man capris.

Whatever. I attempted to crawl over his body to the inside wall of the bunk. His ass will be moving out of the center of the bunk to his own side.

Uhwhat are you doing? He reached up and grabbed my arm, preventing me from getting completely on the other side of him.

I sleep next to the wall.

But I sleep on the left.

Thats in a hotel bed, not a bunk where theres a possibility I can roll out of it in the middle of the night. I reminded him.

No. He protested. We already have a system. You sleep on the right, I sleep on the left regardless of the fact you could fall out of the bunk. You cant mess with the system. Thats just not how it works.

But thats not fair!

You know what else isnt fair? I shook my head. This! He reached up and began tickling my sides.

I of course did the only thing a mature woman in my place could do. I started squealing like a little girl and made my best attempt to tickle him back.

Mere seconds later I found myself lying on my back on the right side of the bunk. Benji ceased the tickling and was re-fluffing his pillow, a victorious smile plastered on his face.

Youre mean! I huffed. I turned on my side, my back towards him, and closed my eyes. I swear if I fall out of this bunk he will never hear the end of it.

Im not that mean. He whispered. Ill make sure you dont fall out. Benji scooted closer to me and slipped his arm around my waist. I could feel his breath on the back of my neck; it sent a tingle down my spine.

I turned over on my back so I could see him and gave him a little smile. I cant be irritated at his attempt to be nice so he can get his way.

Whens Tony leaving?

Tomorrow sometime after the show, why? Do you wanna have his babies?

Oh on the contrary, I heard youre already having his love child.

You need to stay away from the Internet Amy, its filling your head with too much crap. Hes right. As of lately Ive found myself engrossed in sites relating to him and his band mates. Recently I stumbled upon a site devoted to proving GC, MEST and other bands of their genre prefer the love of boys. Besides, Tony and I dont like to publicize information about the baby. We like to keep it kinda hush hush.

A part of me wanted to burst out laughing at his admition, but I stayed quiet wondering what the baby would look like.

Well both be good fathers though. He smiled and looked me directly in the eyes waiting for whatever snarky comment I would throw back at him. Instead I changed the focus of our conversation.

Tonys ok. Hes just a little too sure of himself.

No, Tonys just fucking cocky.

Thats not what I meant. Dont get me wrong, he is cocky, but its like he thinks he knows me.

From where?

Not like that, he thinks he has me figured out.

Why would Tony have to figure you out?

He doesnt. Thats what Im saying.

To be quite honest Amy, I think youre the only one who knows what your saying.

Tony thinks that we Suddenly a feeling of nervousness rushed over me. That youand I Why am I so afraid to tell him? Its not like Tonys right or anything. He has this crazy idea that the both of us

Before I could finish my sentence Benji brought the hand that was around my waist up to my cheek and leaned closer to me. I know. He whispered after studying my face for a few moments.

Slowly he leaned down and placed his lips on mine. They were soft yet cold due to the three metal piercings in his lower lip. He sucked on my bottom lip briefly before pulling away. I was in complete shock and could barely remember how to breathe.

He played with the stud in the center of his lip as he smiled. Night Amy. With that he turned over onto his stomach and went to sleep.
