04: Wake-up Call

I slid my key card into the door and pushed down the handle when the light on the lock turned green. Benji, Billy, Joel, and Paul followed me into the suite. The suite was pretty basic in its set up. There was a main room with couches and an entertainment system, a dinning room, and four bedrooms which all had their own bathrooms.

While the boys were busy doing their autograph signing and sound check, I was preparing their room. Steve gave me a list of at least 50 or more things that needed to be done or added to the room.

The four men surveyed the main room and seemed pretty content with the job I had done. The PS2 was hooked up, the mini-bar (void of all alcohol) was filled with all of their favorite beverages, and their luggage was placed outside of the rooms they were staying inall per their request.

Benji, Billy, and Paul picked up their luggage and entered their rooms. Joel stayed in the main room with me. His arms were crossed and he had a disapproving look on his face.

Why is my stuff outside of Benjis room? He asked noting his bag on the floor.

I thought it was obvious. You and Benj are sharing a room.

No. I get my own room.

Joel was beginning to sound like a spoiled 5-year-old little kid. I was waiting for him to throw himself to the ground and have a tantrum.

I picked up Joels bag and handed it to him. No, you dont. There are only four rooms for five people. You and Benji shared a womb for nine monthsyou can share a room for one night.

Joel shook his head and walked into his and Benjis room, slamming the door behind him.

And they say Benjis suppose to be the asshole! I called after him.

I had a little extra time today so I got on the internet and did a little research on the boys. Their band is called Good Charlotte (which I found out from the tacky laminate Im forced to wear 24/7). All the fans have their favorite member that they wanna screw. Paul is the least desirable memberI think its cause hes not a publicity whore like the twins. Oh yeah, Benji and Joel are twins! I knew they were brothersbut twins! That was a shocker. I saw a picture of them when they looked alike. I almost peed myself laughing. There is also speculation about all the guys being gay based upon different comments theyve made jokingly throughout the years. Oh, and it turns out that Im not the only girl that wants make-up tips from Billy.

I walked to my room shut the door behind me and plopped down on the bed. The urge to lie there and just go to sleep was strong but I resisted; I still had things I wanted to do. I got up and put on a pair of black cotton pants and a black sleeveless t-shirt that had the word vulgar written on it in red letters. I grabbed my messenger bag off the floor by the door and took a seat in a large armchair in the corner. I pulled out my tour planner to review what was going on the next day, then I got out my journal and began writing. About an hour and a half later sleep had taken over my body.

The next morning I woke up to the sound of the phone ringing on the bedside table. I reached out from under the covers and answered the phone.

Hello?

Ms. Hart, this is your 10 oclock wake up call.

I hung up the phone and pulled the covers back over me. Wait. Covers? I opened my eyes and noticed that I was in bed. I could see the chair I fell asleep in last night. I mustve gotten up and somehow managed to make my way to the bed. I closed my eyes and contemplated getting up or sleeping until the alarm on my cell phone was set to go off 15 minutes later. I didnt have time to make that decision because a mans arm slipped around my waist from behind. I wasnt alone!

My eyes shot wide open and I held my breath. The body behind me snuggled closer and I could feel his breath on my neck. I slowly sat up, trying not to wake the person in my bed, to see who it was. I was relieved to see that the person was Benji and not some sex-crazed maniac. Relieved, that is, until I realized that the person in my bed was BENJI! Its bad enough his brother and band mate think that were sleeping together, even though were not, we dont need to give them any more proof to fuel their thoughts.

Benji! I poked him in the side trying to wake him up.

Its not time to get up. He told me in a childish voice. There was a cheesy smile plastered on his face. Must be a good dream hes having.

Benjyou have to get up and go back to your room.

I cant Joel kicked me outto the couch.

Well then go sleep on the couch! I tried pushing him off the bed but wasnt successful.

When Benji didnt answer me anymore I decided that it was no big deal. I still have an hour to get ready and 2 before I have to wake everyone up. Ill just tell Joel and Paul that I saw Benji sleeping on the couch and I told him to go sleep in my room while I was off to get breakfast. Great idea. Im a genius.

I took my shower, got dressed in a pair of jeans and a fitted plain red shirt, and pulled my hair back in a messy bun. I grabbed my shoes and walked into the main room, quietly closing the door to my room behind me. As I turned to face the entertainment center, I noticed Joel sitting on the couch watching the television. Damn it! Of all the mornings for Joel to be up early. I slowly made my way to the door hoping more with each step that Joel wouldnt see or hear me.

Wheres Benji?

Damn it all to hell. Casually I turned around and slipped my shoes on, trying to act like I had not just tried to sneak out.

Hes in my room. I came out here earlier and he looked so uncomfortable on that couch so I told him to go sleep in my room while I got dressed and everything.

Hopefully Joel hadnt been up long.

Im hungry. Joel redirected his attention to the TV.

Im going to get breakfast now. I tried to slip out the door without further conversationbut wasnt successful.

Joel stood up and followed me. Ill go with you.

I rolled my eyes before turning to face him. Alright but dont wear anything that says MADE on itI dont feel like getting mobbed by a bunch of hormonal little girls or worse groupiesEspecially on day one of the tour.

Joel grabbed a plain black hoodie off the coat rack by the door and followed me down the hall. We stepped on the elevator and began going down to the lobby.

Here put these on. I handed him my aviator sunglasses. And put your hood up.

For once Joel listened to me and did what he was told. We exited the elevator and began walking towards the main doors of the hotel.

Where are we going?

Theres a restaurant a few blocks away. The concierge told me it serves excellent breakfast food.

Our walk to the restaurant was quiet for the most part.

Shit. I heard Joel sigh as we approached the restaurant.

I was confused for a moment until I saw what Joel had seen. A group of 5 girls were walking from the restaurant we were going to. All 5 had on Good Charlotte shirts and all 5 had spotted us and began talking amongst each other.

Joel reached in his pocket and started to pull out a marker, probably to sign autographs, he didnt look too happy. Quickly I draped my arms over his neck and turned him around so his back was facing the group of girls.

Dont say anything and do what I tell you too.

Joel shook his head in agreement. As the girls got closer I nudged Joel away and instructed him to go in the dinner across the street. I noticed the girls following him with their eyes and yelled over to them to get their attention.

Hey girls! I ran over to them and put on my most rabid GC fan expression. You girls are GC fansme too! My boyfriend and I totally just saw the twins two streets over at that new indie record store.

Oh my god! Are you serious? One of the girls asked, letting her excitement show.

Yeah, and they looked so good. You girls could probably still go see them there. I overheard Benji talking on his cell phone and he said that Paul and Billy were gonna meet them there around noon. I looked at my watch and back at the girls. Its only 11:35 now.

The girls all exchanged glances.

Where is it at again.

I turned around to face the direction Joel and I had just come from. Its down that way 3 blocks and over that way 2 blocks. I pointed the directions out to them.

Thank You.

I watched as the 5 girls ran full speed down the street. A few minutes later Joel stood beside me. He had a slight smile on his face.

Thank You. He mumbled the words as we were walking into the restaurant.

Needless to say I was more than shocked. Joel Madden had just said thank youto mehes suppose to hate me! I had to laugh at the same time because he thinks I got rid of the girls for him. When really I just didnt feel like having to wait on him to sign autographs and subject myself to listening to a bunch of girls gush over him like hes god.
