This part of my portfolio will be in two parts. The first part will anaylze
two Beatles songs and explain how the lyrics relate to events that were
happening at the time that the songs were written. These two songs will
be Taxman written by George Harrison and featured on the Revolver album
(1966), and A Day In The Life written by Lennon/MCcartney and featured
on Sgt. Peppers Lonely Hearts Club Band (1967).
The second part will analyze the writing techniques used by the
Beatles in the two songs: While My Guitar Gently Weeps by George Harrison
featured on The White Album, and Blackbird written by Lennon/MCcartney
and also featured on the White album.
The Beatles used many writing techniques in their songs. In fact I had a
very hard time when it came time to picking the two songs I would use for
the second of the portfolio. The two songs I finally chose might not be the
best examples but they are songs that have touched my heart in some way or
another, and when a song touches your heart something extra comes from the
words.
