| A Near Disaster |
| This picture has a funny story behind it. Anna, Carrie and I, before heading to Dusseldorf with Julia, took a small tour around Wuppertal on the Schwebebahn, which is the "suspension railway"--a transportation system that travels above the road around town. (You can see how the cars are supported, by the orange beams at the top of the picture above. Basically the whole subway hangs from these "suspension railways.") Anyway, Anna and I were sitting together, near the door, while Carrie was a seat down. Anna suddenly realized we had to get off at the next stop and motioned to me to come. We thought Carrie had seen us, but when we stepped onto the platform and turned around to see her follow us, to our horror the doors closed behind us and left Carrie in the subway. WHAT HAPPENS NEXT? (remember, neither Carrie nor I speak German nor have cell phones with us.) |
