March 27th 2003               *Irish Girls Extended Weekend and Other Tales Of Alcohol*
My liver is very happy that Spring Break is over. I'm probably the only person in the world who goes back to college to sober up. It was definitely a good time, though.

I came home Thursday night and Erin and I kicked off the start of our Spring Break with a traditional Thursday night at Charlestown. Actually, it wasn't traditional because it was just us. Normally a few of the guys go along, but the "It's either Meg or Josh" vibe going around Parkside. As Angel likes to say,
"Bro's Before Hoes and Chicks Before Dicks" We had fun without them and were dubbed "The Irish Girls" byt our bartender buddy Ryan...and nickname we definitely earned over the next few days.

I spent Friday car shopping, running around and working at Parkside, so it was one of the three sober nights of the break

Saturday was more car shopping and more working and then Erin and I hit up Appetites and wound up back at Charlestown where we encountered Paulie and the Paulie Punch.
"Drink it" he said, and the Irish Girls took it like a shot. Woo Spring Break!

Sunday was a long ass day at Carmines, but halfway through the night Nate reminded me that at midnight, it was St. Patricks Day...my FAVORITE holiday.

Let's take a minute to show our appreciate for this great holiday. It's about wearing green, being Irish and drinking. It's as though this holiday was greated just for me.

So we went back to Charlestown, and Bob decided to be cool and join us and we started St Patrick's Day already drunk...St Patrick would have been proud.

Monday was more car shopping and running around and then I worked at Carmines with Josh. It was painfully slow, so we really had nothing to do but talk to each other and pretend to be busy so our boss didn't get pissed. We made some pointless small talk which, of course, led to us talking about things we should have talked about long ago. We ended work with a nice hug and plans to hang out on Wednesday. Once I got off work, it was back to Charlestown with Erin for St Patrick's Day Part II and the offical end of our extended weekend drinking bender. She was leaving for Chicago on Wednesday to see her family and had to pack Tuesday, so we decided before I even came home that we were going to go nuts and live it up until she left.

Tuesday was spent working all day between Parkside and Carmine's, which eventually turned into Sober Day II, aka Meg's Liver Gets A Day Off.

Wednesday was another fantastic day of working open to close and then Josh and I went out after work. I really wasn't sure how things were going to go. I had missed hanging out with him and talking to him, but the week before I came home I was informed that he couldn't be around me or talk to me or hang out with me because of how messed up things were. So I had been confused as to how one week things were okay and we were friends and things were fine and the next it was the opposite.

It turned out to be a great night. We went to Victory and played some pool (I lost...twice) and drank some interesting beer and then went bowling. The last time I had been bowling was in August when Erin, Whiteman, Conner and I had a girls night before I left for college. I broke 100 on my first game and *almost* beat Josh on the second one, but wound up with a 99. In my defense, the beers from Victory and the picture of beer we were working on while bowling probably had a little something to do with the few centimeters I was missing the pins by. Then we went out to another bar and rounded off the evening with some since conversation.

I went home feeling much better about things between us. I think had things began like the way Wednesday night went, maybe things would have worked out better...or at least have been slightly less fucked up, but that's another entry for another time.

Thursday I gave the car dealer the Okay and told them "I want that Nissan Sentra" (don't worry, there will be a whole entry about the car!) and then proceeded to go into the traditional Meg state of panic trying to get everything organized and together. Then I worked at Carmine's until close and then Ruth, Jon Kolle and I went to Charlestown. We noticed a sign in there earlier in the week that said it was The Best Neighborhood Bar on the Main Line and the comment was made "It's the closest thing to Cheers as the Main Line gets" and when I walked in Thursday, I could see how true that was. Maybe being well known at a bar isn't a good thing ;-) But Erin and I used the excuse "We're on Spring Break" and that seemed to make everyone happy.

Friday was another open to close day of work and then afterwards, the guys from work and I went bowling and this time I beat everyone but Jeff (that's four people!) It was Mike who truely inspired me, though. He made the comment "I haven't bowled in forever. I'm going to suck...but at least I'll beat Meg" Josh was nice enough to give me props and say that I was pretty good, but Mike didn't listen and I beat 'em both! It would have been the highlight of break except that Saturday, I got my car!

I worked from 11-3 at Carmine's, went home, then picked up my car and went back to Parkside from 5-8. All I wanted to do was go out and drive but instead I was rotting at work. I was in tbe best mood, though. I didn't get upset when I made multiple messes in ice cream and I just laughed when Jeff put in about 70 sodas into the computer to see how high he could get the number, only to remember he had to delete each one individually...which I helped him do. I could have been on fire the entire night and I'd still have had a stupid smile on my face. Saturday was Sober Night III.

Sunday I did some more running around and then got back to Stroudsburg around 9. I was in bed around 9:30. It was a kick ass but very tiring break. Woo Spring Break!
