The Story

| The Story of Escaflowne starts of on Earth with a 15 year old girl named Hitomi Kanzaki. She is a normal girl who likes to run track and has a crush on her coach. She has a deck of tarot cards, which she uses to tell people fortunes, and a pendent that her grandmother gave to her that she keeps with her always as a good luck charm. One day after school Hitomi is with her best friend Ucari and her coach Amono when she decides to ask Amono, that if she could run the 100 meter track in under 13 seconds, if he would give her her first kiss. |  |

| As Hitomi is running all of a sudden there is a strange pillar of light and a strange boy appears as if out of the sky. It happened all so sudden that Hitomi crashes into the boy and falls to the ground. The strange boy then tells her that a dragon is coming. The three look up to see a dragon appear as if out of nowhere. The boy tells them to run away as he pulls out his sword ready to fight the dragon. |  |

| As the boy and the dragon are fighting the dragon blows fire at him but he blocks it with his shield. The dragon then swipes his tail at him but Hitomi shouts watch out just in time and the boy stabs the dragon. After the dragon is dead the boy picks up a strange glowing ball that he calls a drag-energist. |  |

Then all of a sudden the strange pillar of light appears again over the boy and Hitomi and they are lifted up into the air. Amono runs to grab Hitomi�s hand but he is too late and the two are sent up into the sky. |
| Hitomi is transported to a new planet called Gaea where she finds out the boy is named Van and he is to be the new king of Fanalia. This starts off Hitomi�s adventure with prince Van and Escaflowne. |  |
