125 ml (1/2 cup) of Butter
190 ml (3/4 cup) of sugar
5 ml (1 tsp) of vanilla
2 eggs
125 ml (1/2 cup) of melted chocolate chips (semi-sweet)
125 ml (1/2 cup) of all-purpose flour
125 ml (1/2 cup) of chopped walnuts ( you don't have to put these in if you don't like walnuts though)
Madison: To start the brownies you have to preheat your oven to 160 C (325 F)
Kero: Remember kids, ask your parents before doing this, they may not want you to touch the stove, it can be very dangerous, so ask mom or dad to help you.
Madison: While the oven is preheating, grease and flour your baking pan.
Then you cream your butter, sugar and vanilla together.
Kero: (falls in) Cream means stir really really well.
Sakura: Kero, get out of there!!!!
Kero: I'm trying, it's really sticky!
Madison: (pulls him out) Then you add the eggs to the butter, sugar and vanilla. You may want to use an egg beater for this, but you should ask mom or dad to use the egg beater for you, it can be dangerous. We always ask Sakura's dad to help with the oven and egg beater!
Next you blend in the melted chocolate.
Kero: Yummmm chocolate! I love this part!
Sakura: (laughing) I'm sure you do! After adding the chocolate stir in the flour and the walnuts if you use them. Then you pour all of it into the pan that you greased and floured earlier.
Madison: Get your mom or dad to put the pan in the oven, and leave it in there for about 30 minutes.
Kero: Thats one TV show. I have time to watch my favourite show while the brownies bake!
Sakura: After 30 minutes, ask your mom or dad to take the pan out of the oven, and let it cool for about 15 minutes. Don't forget to turn the oven off!!!!!
Kero: Are we done yet???
Sakura: Dad, are the brownies ready yet??
Mr. Avalon: (walking into the kitchen, he takes the pan out of the oven, after putting on oven mitts!! Turns off the oven and puts the pan on a rack to cool) We have to wait 15 minutes before I can cut them. Then you can have one.
Kero: always get mom or dad to cut the brownies.
15 minutes later:
Mr. Avalon: ok, here you go kids, enjoy the brownies!
Kero: Yayyyyyyyy broowwnnniieesss!!!!!!!!
