Night

I look into the dark black sky
I see light
I see dark
I see everything
The universe rotating around me
Each star is unique
Giving off its own millennia of light
To think about it…it’s amazing
All those stars…having given off that same light to people thousands of years ago
People just like me in the past, present, and future
All staring up into the same stars that I did
From George Washington
To Thomas Jefferson
To the famous people of today
I can say we all have one thing in common
We all see the same stars
The same light
The same universe
The same moon
It’s all there in the sky
Every night
Promising to return
For them, and for I
To stare at and wonder
