RFID READER MODULE PRODUCT BRIEF -------------------------------- INTRODUCTION ------------ The MVS RFID1/2 are low frequency (125khz) passive readers in an industry standard 32 pin DIP module. The tags derive power from the reader so no batteries or external supplies are needed. Unlike competitive units that are only compatible with EM formats the MVS RFID1 reads all LF tags and dongles. For example others can't read the transponders from ATMEL (Digi-Key tk5530-232-pp-nd) but NO PROBLEM for the RFID1! Applications include tracking manufactured goods, access control, automotive, time clock ID badges, point of sale, home secutity, and many other related functions. Another advantage of the RFID1 over other readers is extended range due to higher transmit voltage: four times the distance of lower voltage units. The larger high-Q MVS antenna works over eight times farther than those readers with small integrated PC board antennas. Even greater distance is possible (60cm and more) with custom coils and extenders. Operation is simple: bring a tag near and the ID number (as printed on the card) is sent out the serial port in human readable ASCII characters. Asynchronous serial for the RFID1, synchronous for the RFID2. No garbled binary or extraneous numbers are transmitted. And the MVS unit can be plugged directly into a PC serial port for testing even deriving power from the handshake lines. Try THAT with other modules! Hooking up a solenoid or other access control device is easy because, unlike others which only provide a TTL level signal, the MVS modules have a built-in high power analog switch relay circuit capable of driving heavy loads directly. Also the RFID1 reader holds more card tag IDs than other readers (4000). The DIP switch master and slave card qualification process is quicker, easier, and more secure than most. An on-board LED display and "beeper" signal provides ID confirmation. Generally speaking the MVS product is equivalent to competitive units along with their bulky evaluation boards combined into one compact module. And cost is GUARANTEED lower than any similar readers on the market. This will be done only if it has been determined by MVS that the product has not been misused (improper voltages, physical alteration, etc.). Otherwise a minimum service charge is required. In either case it is necessary to contact MVS with invoice handy for a Returned Merchandise Authorization (RMA) number before shipping the unit.
