PARALLEL ECONO-TERM REV G USER MANUAL (C) MVS 2002 DESCRIPTION ----------- The MVS Econo-Term (ETRM1) is a 2 line alphanumeric LCD display with 18 tactile keys and LED. The parallel interface works with a PC, Single Board Computer, Single Chip Computer, or any other controller with TTL bits. It fits into the KPWRBOX2 plastic enclosure with batteries for handheld apps. A simple cable and included software allow the ETRM to be plugged into a PC for testing. Operated in "4-bit" mode the LCD requires 6 TTL compatible outputs. 4 additional input bits are used to scan the keypad (5 column outputs with 4 row inputs). 10 bits total are needed to control both. Connect power and plug into LPT1 of a PC (378h SPP). Run LCDK18A.COM. Characters typed at the keypad appear on the LCD. If necessary adjust contrast for maximum clarity. Source code examples show how to initialize the display and scan keys in C, BASIC and Assembler.
