VA-1 EINHERIAR
VARIABLE ATTACK FIGHTER

(Version 1.0)

RPG Stats by Harvey Neil Johnston ([email protected])
BACKGROUND

During the development of the VF-1 Valkyrie as an all environment variable fighter, the design that would become the VA-1 Einheriar was also under development. Intended as a variable attack fighter, the Einheriar began production in 2008, a year after the production of the VF-1 began. The Einheriar saw service with various branches of the UN Forces, but with the successes of the VF-1 Valkyrie, it was relegated to a secondary role. It saw action during Space War I, and limited use following the war. Due to the fact that the Valkyrie could perform the roles of the Einheriar just as effectively, the VA-1 was destined to be replaced by it.

The VA-1 Einheriar shared the same FF-2001 fusion engines used by the VF-1 Valkyrie, developed by Nakajima, Pratt & Whitney and Rolls-Royce. The VA-1A, the production model, possessed a single laser mounted on its head. The VA-1S possessed four lasers, and was produced as an officer's model. A gun pod was mounted within the nose of the fighter, which was used for heavy assault. It utilized an advanced laser targeting system. Various ordnance payloads were used in its role as an attack fighter. Unlike the VF-1, the Einheriar only transformed into fighter and battloid modes, and it did not possess a gerwalk mode.

COMPATIBLE FAST PACKS:
      Dorsal: None

WEAPON SYSTEMS:

1/ (1x) HEAVY ASSAULT GUN POD: This gun pod is nose-mounted in fighter mode and is hand-held in battloid mode. An extendable strap may be extended from the pod, allowing it to be carried on the back in battloid mode. It possesses an advanced targeting sensor and may be fired in any mode. The ammunition is contained within a sealed rotating chain feed inside the weapon and may only be reloaded at a UN base. 2/ (1 or 4x) MAUSER RöV-20 LASER CANNONS: Similar to the VF-1 Valkyrie, the Einheriar has one (VA-1A model) or four (VA-1S model) turret-mounted lasers upon its head. In fighter mode, these lasers are dorsal mounted and may fire in any direction above the mecha. In battloid mode, the lasers may fire in any direction. 3/ (2x) WING-MOUNTED HARDPOINTS: One hardpoint is mounted under each wing. Each hardpoint can carry either a long-range missile (LRM), a Multiple Ejection Rack (MER) carrying 3 medium-range missiles (MRMs) or a UMM missile pod carrying 15 short-range missiles (SRMs). The missiles and pods are relocated to the back in battloid mode. Various ordnance payloads are possible.

I/ LONG-RANGE MISSILES

or II/ MEDIUM-RANGE MISSILES or III/ SHORT-RANGE MISSILES 4/ HAND TO HAND COMBAT: The pilot of the Einheriar can engage in melee combat rather than use a weapon. The mecha is extremely agile and can execute most typical hand to hand combat moves, such as punches, jump kicks, leap attacks, rolling with impacts, etc.

The Breast Fighter was developed by Studio Nue for Battle City Megaroad, a preproduction series that evolved into Super Dimension Fortress Macross. The original name, ‘Breast Fighter,’ was based on the fact that the fighters were launched out of the chest of the Megaroad. The conjectural name of ‘Einheriar’ is an homage to the name given to the VF-1 Valkyrie, being the male counterpart to the mythical female Valkyrie. Minimal written information is given, so much of this document is conjecture. The weapons fit is based on the diagrams presented in the book, Macross: Perfect Memory.
