65 MEGABYTES - BIOGRAPHY {Page 5}

INSIDE THE ROCK-IT MUSIC STUDIOS

It Seems Pretty Unbelieveable Even To Me, But I Can Now Proudly Say That I HAVE Been Inside An OFFICIAL Recording Studio..... It Took Us Over 8 Hours To Make Our Way To The Studios In Colne, But For Me, It Was ALL Well Worth The Journey.....

When We Finally Arrived At The Studios, I Had To Check In, And Sign My Name On Their Documents To Show That I Had Indeed Arrived, And Recorded A Song At Their Studios On That Day..... All Basic Stuff Apparently.....

I Started Off By Choosing My Song Which Was "Closer To Me" By 5ive, Then The Guy Who Was Running The Studio Ran Off To Get The Approriate Equipment And Backing Track..... He Returned About 5 Minutes Later, And Escorted Me Into The Room In Which I Would Be Recording My First Ever OFFICIAL CD.....

The Room Was Absolutely Huge, There Were Various Instruments Scattered Around For Any Case Of Recording, There Were Two Mics Set Up Next To Each Other, It Was A Totally 100% Professional Studio.....

I Got Straight Into The Recording, And Sang The Whole Song Straight Through..... Which Kind Of Surprised The Guy Who Was Working The Desk..... The Song Contains Some Rap Elements And Would Usually Require A Second Recording To Record The Rap Part In Between The Singing..... But I Didn't Need It..... I Got Through The Whole Song And The Guy Said To Me Through My Headphones "That Was Brilliant, There's No Need For It, But Do You Wanna Do It Again?".......... Why Not, I Thought..... So I Recorded The Track Again, Same Response Afterwards "Brilliant".....

I Heard No More About It Until The 15th April 2002 When My First OFFICIAL CD Arrived In The Post, It Was Truly An Amazing Feeling, To See My Picture, And My Official Name "65 MEGABYTES" On The Cover Of A CD Case..... That Was My First Day In The Recording Studio, But Hopefully, It Wont Be My Last....................

THE REAL SLIM SHADY: STRIKES

I Was Actually Working In College Around March Time When I Saw An Advertisement For A Talent Contest Within The New College Nottingham, I Didn't Think I Would Be Able To Win A Talent Contest On My Own, But I Always Perform Because I Love Music, And I Love To Entertain As Well, So I Signed My Name Down As "65 MEGABYTES", And My Act Name As "The REAL Slim Shady".....

It Took About A Month Before There Was Any Reply, But In April, I Received The Phone Call Inviting Me To Attend The First Audition Of The Talent Contest, Which I Accepted..... I Met Up With The Show's Organisers At The Co-Op Arts Theatre On The 25th April 2002 For The First Audition..... There Were Two Rock Bands Present At The Time, One Was Called "The Nature", And I Do Not Remember The Name Of The Other Band..... We All Did Our Performances, And At The End, I Was Informed That The Three Judges On Hand That Day Enjoyed My Act VERY Much.....

After A Weeks Waiting
, I Received The Letter Informing Me That I Had Indeed Advanced To The Grand Finals Of The Contest..... I Was Shaking A Little On The Day Itself, But I Met Up At The College With The Eight Other Acts Which Were Participating In The Contest..... They Included A Wild West Dancer, A Rock Band, And A DJ MC..... The Competition Was Stiff, But I Didn't Let It Get To Me.....

Each Of The Acts Had Two Slots To Audition, In Order To Get The Feel Of The Venue, The Stage Presence, And Everything Else..... After I Had My Two Auditions, I Went Into A Keyboard Lab And Played A Few Melodies To Calm Myself Down (You Probably Guessed It Already, But I DID Play Some Eiffel 65 Tunes To Help..... I Played "Lucky (In My Life)", "Blue (Da Ba Dee)" And "Too Much Of Heaven" ).....

When The Time Of The Performance Came, We Were All Escorted Into One Large Dressing Room, Where We All Changed, Practised, And Prayed..... After A While, I Was Called Out To Do My Number..... For This Night, The Organisers Of The Show Hired A Look-a-like To Present The Show And Introduce The Competitors..... This Guy Was An "Ali G" Impersonator Known As "Ali B"..... It Has To Be Said, He Was Very Good..... He Had The Voice, The Look, And The Attitude..... He Introduced Me, And I Got Up And Performed "The Real Slim Shady", And I Couldn't Believe It, Once I'd Finished The Song, I Got Myself A Standing Ovation..... I Had A Brief Interview With "Ali G" And Then Left The Stage..... Since There Were Only A Couple More Acts After Me, I Wasn't Able To Run Off And Play On The Keyboards Again To Calm My Nerves, So I Had To Return To The Dressing Room.....

After The Final Act Had Finished Their Performance, The Judges All Went Off To Make Their Decision On Who They Thought Should Win The Contest.....

We All Waited In The Dressing Room For About 15 Minutes, And Then We Were Escorted To Outside The Backstage Doors, Where "Ali G" Was Entertaining The Audience With His Own Personal Raps, Which I Actually Thought Were Quite Good..... Once He'd Finished, He Announced The Third Place Winner, Which Was "Lauren Betts" And Her "Wild Wild West" Dance Act..... The Second Place Winner Was Then Announced, Which Was The Singing Act "Gemma"..... Well, I Thought To Myself, That's It Really..... I Was Hoping Maybe I Could Attain Third Or Second Place, So There Was Absolutely No Way I Would Get First Place..... BUT, "Ali G" Then Announced That The Winner That The Judges Had Picked To Win The Talent Contest, And HIS Personal Favourite Act Of The Contest Was "65 MEGABYTES" With "The REAL Slim Shady".....

I Couldn't Believe It, I Had Actually Won A Talent Contest On My Own, With No Help From Anyone, Without A Band To Back Me Up, Just Me, Myself And I..... I Dashed Up Onto The Stage, Had Another Quick Word With "Ali G", And Then Had To Perform My Song Again For The Crowd As The "Winner" Of The Contest..... After The Show, I Was Approached By The Entertainments Manager Of High Pavement College Nottingham Who Requested That I Do A Gig As "Eminem" For Their Annual "Party In The Pavement" Show..... I Decided To Accept Her Offer, And She Later Contacted Me, And I Performed At The Gig, Which Also Went Down Brilliantly..... I Performed Four "Eminem" Tracks In Total, And Got Huge Standing Ovations After Each Song I Performed..... This Was The First Talent Contest I Had Won, But I Had Absolutely No Idea I Would Have Another Chance To Do It Again.............................. Keep On Reading To See Exactly What I'm Talking About.....
