i put on my coat
and walked out alone
at a sunset

back
to gaze straight up

eyes more starry
in that early evening

Straightened
watching deep blue
wonder take over
you stood behind me
your arms about mine
our four hands joined

Under the sound
of growing stars
made out the words
you murmured in my ear

Breathed love and life
into that leaving light
entwined my soul
into its passage

Before i went back in
over my shoulder
at you
at the sky
carrying its last light
and me with it
to where you are.
