As much as I hate to start a post on an unfriendly note, I saw something on the list, recently, which really offended me. I'd almost say "outraged". Somebody had referred to one of the Germanic tribes as "dogs". Loborubro felt the need to respond. Had s/he merely objected to the decision to refer to the members of another ethnic group as being "dogs", I wouldn't be writing this opening note. But s/he did something else. What I saw written was "what a fine, respectful way to refer to another Indo-European people".
Excuse me? Am I to understand that not being "Aryan" means that one is less deserving of respect? I see little difference between this kind of "morality" and outright racism. As a former Jew, I'd be lying if I said that I had never encountered such an attitude before, but I never expected to encounter it on a Pagan list. If my tone in what follows is less than gentle, I will point out that my response remains honest if not especially tactful, so no apologies will be forthcoming. The moment that we stop viewing each other as equals, is the moment that civility has gone out the window. Why Loborubro saw fit to throw it there, I don't know, but I'm not going to pretend that it didn't happen. How could I, when the truth is there for all to see?
I have no issue, at this point, with any other NovaRomans. However, with Loborubro, this is no longer a friendly discussion. I would be a hypocrite if I pretended that it was.
