FINDING THE ASCENDENT (Southern Latitudes) Step One: First find the day, month, year and place of
birth of the subject. Step Two: Note this time of birth in hours
and minutes, a.m. or p.m. The time of birth will be known as Local Time
and this has to be altered to Greenwich Mean Time. During this stage we will
only deal with Step Three: Examine list attachments showing
N.Z.S.T since 31st October, 1868, and here the deviation between
N.Z. and G.M.T. are duly listed. It is necessary now to work out the time as
per Greenwich Mean Time. Step Four: Example: Subject born 25 March,
1999, 06.55 am, Step Five: Look up the Sidereal Time in the
Ephemeris for the above date. This should read as 00: 06:05, which is 0
hours, 6 minutes and 5 seconds. Now look up the atlas to find the longitude of Step Six: The next step is Acceleration Time
where we allow 10 seconds for every whole hour before or after Noon GMT. As
this time is 6 hours after noon and 6 x 10 seconds = 1 minute, we now add
this rounded to the nearest minute to the total. Example
One. Local Birth Time 06.55
am Converted to GMT 06:55
Sidereal Time for 24/3/99 00:06 Longitude for 12 hours added for Southern Latitudes 12:00 Add Acceleration Time 00:01 30:41 Less multiples of 24 hours -24:00 Sidereal Time for 06:55 pm 25/3/1999, Table of Houses at 420 shows Ascendent at 8 Libra , MC
8 Cancer, which when reversed are Ascendent 8 Aries, MC 8 Capricorn. Example
Two: Subject born 31/3/1999 at 04:00 pm Local Birth Time 04:00
pm Converted to GMT 04:00
am Difference from Noon (subtract from 12) 08:00 Ephemeris Sidereal Time for 31/3/1999 00:33 Add 24 hours to help with calculations 24:33 Less difference from Noon –08:00 16:33 Add longitude for 04:54 Subtract Acceleration Time -00:00 04:54 Plus Southern Time Zone 12:00 16:54 Now refer to the Table of Houses for 42 Degrees Latitude. Remember to reverse the result for Southern Latitudes. |
