Not So Blank Verse

Who Is To Blame

Start Time: 15-35

Finish Time: 15-45

Written for: Danny

Subject Chosen: Homelessness

Danny was at the time I wrote this poem for him a Big Issue Vendor in Nottingham, who was trying to get of the streets. He was softly spoken, polite and quick witted.

People look at me in dismay,

wishing I would look the other way,

they say the fault is all mine,

as they are all so divine,

and do not deserve any of the blame,

for society's greatest shame,

life on the streets is no easy game,

some choose it, that is true,

and so what if they do,

but for others the choice is made,

in this prosperous society decayed,

you think we want to beg,

and call us a useless dreg,

but you and society put us in the door,

and relegated us to the poor,

with your class after class,

I say you are a horses ass,

with blinkers closed to the full,

no blame in your tiny skull ?
