Ian had passed by my table a couple of times during the afternoon, and had asked me earlier what I was doing, he asked for this verse to explain how I felt about the pressure I was under to deliver poetry on the spot.
Pressure to make the ink flow,
to show what about poetry I know,
to display how quickly I can write,
and still get the poetry right,
to get the feeling just so,
making sure my mind does not blow,
so this is a short verse for you Ian,
your inspiration made me begin,
and now to bring it to an end,
I am a poet and need not pretend.
