Written for: Tom Boyle
Subject Chosen: The Occult
H . P. Lovecraft swam in it's murky water,
and Iron Maiden brought their daughter to the slaughter,
but what really is the Occult,
it is not simply prayer or a cult,
the practice of darker arts,
or funnily dressed so called Gothic tarts,
the Occult is the flip side of the coin,
it is more than the girth of a loin,
to Christianity it is the enemy,
hedonistic excess and evil display,
it is the study of what is dark,
what is forbidden, what did not travel the Ark,
it is a secret that is denied,
and purity that is defied,
but to the Occultist mind,
Christianity is truly blind,
for the Occultist it is freedom,
away from a limiting kingdom,
action without remorse or regret,
hedonism, to get what you can get,
to enjoy without nagging conscience,
no bowing or scraping obeisance,
living for the sake of living,
not hoping for the all forgiving.
