Ok, calm down. I suppose that is the first step. Isn't it always?
Next, sit down. Center yourself and tell yourself it is time to get honest. I've created a sort of checklist in case of such an emergency.
Ask yourself:
1. Am I not ready?
-this one is tough to answer. Perhaps you are just not ready even though you
feel ready. Have you read enough on spells and how they work? Do you understand
the concept of 'least resistance'? Do you know the dynamics of a spell and how
it works? (oops, guess that is my cue to write a page on that) It could very
well be that you are just not ready. Go out and read up on how a spell works,
understand the movement of energy. Take time to understand yourself and your
motivations.
2. Are you trying too hard?
-everyone tries too hard sometimes. Maybe you are trying to perform a spell
that has too much of a defined outcome. Maybe you are trying too hard to "make
something happen". Magick is subtle, like a dream. Magick is easily manipulated.
Try performing a spell that doesn't have such a set outcome, like an Earth healing
spell or a blessing spell. Something that will get your confidence up and will
do something nice for the world around you.
3. ARggggHHH! Still not working!
-Medea, I know what I'm doing, I do simple spells, they are still not working.
This is the bottom line. You are really really trying too hard. You weren't
honest on #2.. You may have stepped off the path a bit and got too focused on
spells and magick. Get back to the Goddess. Find her voice inside of you; find
your true reasons for choosing Witchcraft. The spells will work when you're
ready.
4. THE SPELLS WILL WORK WHEN YOU AND
THE UNIVERSE ARE READY
-final thought. Sometimes things aren't meant to be. Magick is directed by our
will but will take on a form of it's own. Magick follows the path of the least
resistance, this means, magick will go the easiest way. If you are trying to
hard or the outcome is too large, it will not work. Think about it this way.
Energy is like a car, it runs on gas. If you have to get to say, Ohio really
fast you wouldn't drive to Florida then back up to Ohio, that is too out of
the way. Your car and you (like magick) will look for the shortest way before
y'all run out of gas. So when performing magick, look for the fastest easiest
way. Don't do a spell to make a million dollars come your way, that is too far
out of the way. Try a spell to help you curb unnecessary spending instead. See
what i mean?
