Silly Names, High School Games.

Will it ever end?

As a high school survivor, I know for a fact it isn’t easy.  It can be scary, life threatening, fun, silly, horrible and humiliating all in the same week.  Being a witch isn’t going to make it easier or harder.

Let’s face it, nobody fits in when you’re in high school.  If you think you do, then you’re lying to yourself.  There is always someone better, more beautiful, more athletic, smarter…whatever.  The point is (not to get you down...lol) is that you have to be who you are.  If you spend all your time trying to fit in, you’re going to fall out.

Here’s where being a witch fits in.  As a witch, you know the law of three and the rede (or some variation).  You know that playing your part in nature and trying your best every day to keep in harmony.

My best advice:  (from experience and otherwise)

*keep it to yourself

-I know this is a horrible thing to ask.  But, have you ever met one of those crazy Christian people?  Always bragging, “I’m saved, Jesus loves you” blah-blah?  Well, don’t put yourself there.  Don’t do it!  Be reserved.  Keep that pentacle in your shirt, keep that bos under your bed.  Sure, hang a cool picture of Pan or the Goddess in your locker, but avoid the pentacle.  Wear your crescent moon necklace with pride, display your astrological symbol with joy, talk about nature and respect.  These are all good things.   But just remember, the less you bring out, the less that will get brought down!

*if you must tell, tell close close friends

-Best friends (especially ones you already have dirt on ;o))

*don’t tell teachers but….

-feel free to speak up whenever your religion gets dumped on or misrepresented.  Say you studied up on the craft….whatever.

*don’t resort to magick to punish those who are mean to you

-do I have to explain this one? Even though, before I really knew what I was doing or that I was a witch, I am afraid I used some crazy primitive voodoo-from my own mind to get this bitch of a girl off my back.  It worked but I think I’ve paid more than 3 fold for that one.

*be open and loving towards all religions!

-don’t roll your eyes in religion class or tsssk and sigh during lectures.  Pay attention!  All religions have lessons we can learn from.  After all, aren’t the prayers and spells all going the same place??

*have a forgiving heart and a ducks back

-to quote a favorite Christian prayer “forgive us our trespasses as we forgive those who trespass against us”  that’s a good theory.    And the duck’s back thing…let it all roll off, like water!  Don’t take other’s ignorance personally!!!

Well, I hope this helps.  It’s been a while since I’ve held a hall pass, was startled by morning announcements or attended a pep rally.  So, I’m a bit rusty. But advice is advice.  Feel free to take it, lose it or whatever!

Brightest Blessings (and hang in there… it is only 4 years of your ENTIRE life!)
