Miscellaneous Charms
I think i am the most superstitious omen crazy person in the world sometimes ;o) So, i am sharing my obsessions with lucky lucky you! These are so great! Hope you enjoy. (and as always i got them off a list and have no idea who to credit!)
Healing. Tie a found penny, a current
snapshot of yourself and a small
orchid in a piece of orange silk. Keep it with you until the pain is gone
then cast the orchid into running water with words like "Away with pain
on
the water, stay away forever."
Smell dill to cure hiccoughs.
If you suffer from dizziness, run
naked through a flax field three times
after sunset. By doing this, the flax takes your dizziness away. Mind you
might get a bad cold or a summons from a police officer, but you won't be
dizzy any longer.
Garlic is known as nature's antibiotic
and is the best pest control in
garden
I've yet to meet. It's also a protection against shipwrecks for sailors,
against foul weather and monsters for mountaineers, and against assaults by
bullies at the local pub. Garlic rubbed into your pots and pans gets rid of
any negative vibrations that might ruin your food, and if you eat garlic,
you'll become lusty.
If you're a witch, plant geraniums
around your house so that you can
foretell
coming visitors. Geraniums also protect you against snakes.
If you chew ginger and then spit it at a storm, the storm will go away.
Gather holly leaves on a Friday
night--but beware, make absolutely no sound
when you pick the holly leaves or this spell will not work. Wrap the leaves
in a white cloth, knot the cloth nine times, and place it under your pillow.
Your dreams will come true!
Honesty or money plants when scattered
about your house will repel all
monsters.
Finding the first white lily of
the season will give you strength. Wearing a
fresh lily will break any love spells cast against you, particularly when
the
love is unwanted.
Marigold flowers added to your
bath will make you respected and admired.
Hanging marigolds on your doorpost will stop evil from entering your house
(as well as stop those evil pests from entering your garden).
Mint is not just any ordinary garden
herb used for mint juleps in summer and
relaxing teas in winter. Mint kept in the house protects you and your loved
ones. Putting a few leaves of mint in your wallet will attract money. And
mint leaves rubbed against your head will relieve headaches.
If you catch a falling oak leaf, you won't have a cold in the winter.
Pick pansies, particularly johnny-jump-ups,
when the dew is still on them
and
it will soon rain.
Eating parsley will make you lusty
but wearing parsley on your head will
stop
you from getting drunk.
Rue grows best when stolen and
then makes your garden grow better. For some
reason, however, toads don't like rue. Romans used to drink rue juice to
guard against werewolves.
Sage, if you eat it in May, will make you immortal.
Thyme placed beneath a pillow ensures
a pleasant night's sleep. Thyme worn
in
a woman's hair will make her irresistible, and if you both carry and smell
thyme, you'll gain courage, but if you wear thyme, then you'll see faeries.
On New Year's Eve, cast one of
the shoes you're wearing up into a willow
tree
{you have 9 tries}. If your shoe stays up in the tree, then you'll be
married within the year. To complete the spell, you need to climb up into
the willow tree and retrieve your shoe.
For courage in tough times, use
edelweiss as an altar decoration in your
spellwork.
Washing your head with a yarrow
infusion will prevent baldness, and simply
just carrying it, will attract love and friendship.
Yew (poison) will help you raise
the dead (perhaps something to do with the
current link to a probable cancer curing drug!!).
There are many little folks spells
and omens concerning prosperity some of
which make good magical sense and others which are merely quaint
curiosities. Below can be found a sample of some of the many folk customs
associated with prosperity and wealth.
Should a cricket stay into the home, do not disturb or remove it as it
foretells great wealth and success. Welcome the cricket with fond greeting
and let it travel around the home of it's own accord.
At the stroke of midnight on New
Year's Eve stand outside the front door
with a handful of coins and toss them through the threshold into the house
to bring wealth and joy for the coming year.
Sprinkle peppermint tea about the
home to attract the gnomes, the little
earth spirits whose gift is wealth and health.
An occasional dab of essential
oil of bergamot on bank books is said to
keep the finances healthy.
A tiny red spider if found crawling
on the hand betokens great wealth from a
creative endeavor, for this is the fabled money spider.
If one has accidentally put an
article of clothing on the wrong way around,
wealth and success are sure to follow.
A buckeye or horse chestnut, which
is also known as a conker, is a very
potent prosperity charm. Carry one on your person at all times but be sure
to never eat the horse chestnut as it is toxic.
A ginseng root shaped like a little
human is a talisman of wealth,
especially when carried in a purple mojo or charm bag with a magnet and a
coin.
Sleep with some fresh spearmint
beneath the bed to dream up schemes for
wealth and luxury.
Wear an article of purple clothing,
perhaps a tie or handkerchief, to
business meetings where financial matters are to be discussed, as this
attracts the abundant blessings of the planet Jupiter.
Bathe in water to which a handful
of coins has been added to cloak the self
in the energies of prosperity.
Love and Light, rock on....all that good stuff.
back up or just go home
