| WELCOME to my homepage which introduces the mecredymelville website 2002 and I hope will give family news such as it is or such as is fit to print. I hope you like the picture of Amulree Parish Church which is on the right. Amulree is a small hamlet situayed 8 miles from Dunkeld on the raod to Crieff. It is a very old church dating from about 1732 or so, and the single bell is in fact the original one. Despite depopulation, there are two services held here every month, and the minister comes from Aberfeldy some twelve miles away. Winters are very harsh up here and very often snow will cut off the village for days at a time. This photo was taken in the summer of 2001 by a member of a wedding party from Canada Glenquaich can be seen in the background. and was depopulated in the Highland Clearances. |

| NOTES AND NEWS FOR SEPTEMBER 2003 Welcome back to the page which is coming out of more than a year's hibernation but I really must try to keep it active Did you read the story on e-bay where two Bank of Montreal COMPUTERS full of sensitive customer data were put on auction at e-bay. Fortunately the seller noted the sensitive material on the hard drive and notified proper authorities. |

| QUIET WEEKEND IN BURLINGTON THE LAST WEEKEND OF SEPTEMBER had indeed been a quiet one. as montioned elsewhere the PUTZIGS are just recovering from a variety of ailments and Dianne was able to spend a quiet weekend at home with her children. John came down to church today with Liam and Callum who were a bit better behaved at church. After church they all sped away home. After church I went over to Diannes but arrangements were made for Dallas to come for them at 1 so I went away. I will see them both in the morning and probably take one or both to school. Hopefully they will both be fit tomorrow. IIt is getting noticably colder and winter cannot be too far away now. |

| PUTZIGS FELLED BY ILLNESS The Putzig family gave suffered various maladies during the last wee. Dianne has had a bad attack of siusitis. Colleen has had a cough and Katherine had a moderately severe attack of stomach flu Colleen was sick on THursday and her elder sister Katherine on the following day. Happily, at the time of writing -- Saturday night -- all seem to be well on the road to recovery. Your faithful editor has escaped with a mild cough. The weather is getting a lot colder and *I reaally think that we have seen the last of the summer of 2003 rather unremarkable in every way here Though a hurricane Juan is approaching the Maritimes and should make landfall tomorrow night off Nova Scotia. | ||||||||||||||||||||
| SEPTEMBER DAYS DWINDLING DOWN YES INDEED the days are getting shorter and the nights longer and colder and ere long the cold winds of winter will be whistling round outside. I was going through old photos of happier days with the family but just got depressed looking at them all so am putting them all back in their boxes where they can stay. Nearly all pictures showed Jean Freda and Sylvia none of whom are here and Dallas who left for other reasons. Better in their boxes. The only photos I take now are of the kids who are growing like weeds. On a happier note I sorted out some nice postcards of Scotland and they make a good starating point for paintings. I enjoy painting as I find it is a challenge which sometimes gives a nice end result. I am trying different sujects now which is fun I just wish the long evenings would pass quicker-- it takes a long time to reach eleven o'clock. Very quiet in the apartment tonight The evenings seem so long and bedtime takes forever to come. | ||||||||||||||||||||
| OCTOBER HAS ARRIVED YES October is here once more and with it a dramatic drop in the temperature. It has been downright cold and rather wet to boot for the first three days of the month with the temperature down to single digits most of the time and low single digits at night. Snow fell yesterday in Orangeville andf much of that region. Burlington escapsed witn very cold rain, sleet and a little hail. Tonight there is to be ordinary rain. HURRICANE KATE God bless her- is well formed and heading stright for St. SOHNS Newfoundland. Larry is following behind and is just a tropical storm headed for the Caribbean Will try and keep you posted on Kate which could of course change direction between now and landfall. |

| OCTOBER 18TH and a typical fall weekend with temp 3C this morning. No snow here yet but it is not too far away now. There was a bad windstorm on Wednesday blowing many of the leaves away. Quite heavy rain too, It is a quiet weekend here Dianne away to the states, John away to his cottageKatherine and Colleen away with Dallas so noone gets back till tomorrow night. What a quiet weekend it has been with everybody away. I went myself to Pineland as I have not been in a while. Dianne away so I have been looking after the cat and rabbit. Have missed K&C a lot -- they keep me young I think. JOhn at cottage and his girlfriend comes for a week so we will not be seeing too much of him. Weather is very cold tonight outside abd I do not think that winter is too far off. Tomorrow is Oct20 so another year has come and gone. Only another hour till 11PM and I can get to bed- the evenings just now are soooo long. Tomorrow is my appointment to see DR. Nisker Also it is Monday annd a school week which ekeps me well occupied with K&C I really enjoy the two of them and the time I have them to look after |

| WINTER FAST APPROACHING Clocks back an hour last night and it has been a cold rainy late October day. Damp everywhere with a lot of the leaves off the trees. As I write it is only a little after 5.30 and already it is dark. No sign of the sun all day. Colleen has no been too well this weekend with a sporadic cough which I am fairly sure is asthma albeit quite a mild attack. Cleaned house this afternoon and did the floors thoroughly They get really dirty at this time of year. JOhns new girlfriend Karen arrived from London for a weeks holiday and they went to Niagara Falls I will try amd make some entries in YAHOO on a regular basis if I remember though the main wbeeebsites will continue to appear on NETSCAPE MYWEBPAGE |

| NOISY PEOPLE LEAVE The noisy people upstairs packed up yesterday and moved out today-- a big van appeared and took all their stulff WE will be empty for a week and I so hope quiet people who love carpets will move in. | ||||||||||||||||||||
| LESS NOISY PEOPLE MOVE IN THE NOISY PEOPLE have been replaced by a somewhat less noisy couple so I just keep my fingers crossed. We are now into November Hallowe'en has passed and the serious business of WINTER SURVIVAL is now at hand. I always hate NOvember and December, being the two monthe in which most of those nearest and dearest have been taken. Christmas is of course the worst time of all and this year is going to be so quiet as to be hardly noticeable John his taking off to UK and Alistair will likely be in Toronto a good deal of the time so that will just leave DIanne Kate and Colleen- as Dallas has moved to other pastures so I will have to do what I cana to make it nice for Dianne. WE really did very little at Diannes last year so maybe I can do a bit here though she has never been the least bit inclined to come over here. Anyway I will see what I can do. I will have the girls over on MONDAYwhich is 29DEC as Dallas will have them on Boxing Day and that weekend. | ||||||||||||||||||||
| MALCOLM TURNS 72 On October 20th. Malcolm Melville celebrated his 72nd birthday. The celebration was a very quiet one attended only by Malcolm and surviving members of his immediate family with a pizza supper and chili followed by an ice cream birthday cake.. Present were his three children and four grandchildren- a rather small gathering in a big community But alas that is what we are down to. That makes 8 of us altogether. The patriarch JM is in Burlingtom, and has a son John wo has 2 boys, a son Alistair unmarried and a daughter DP with 2 girls. Quite a small isolated cluster as families go. | ||||||||||||||||||||
| END OF OCTOBER NEWS THE month comes to an end with some quite cold and stormy weather unlike last year when we had an Indian summer. Tomorrow Katherines school has its book fair. It is usually very well attended with a wide selection of books available both in English and FRench. As usual we all went along and spent far too much money. | ||||||||||||||||||||
| NOVEMBER NEWS Very busy with Diannes two little angels as Diannne is now on paermanent staff and working a lot of evenings. She is no longer just doing relief. So I will probably beee over there quite a lot of nights which I really enjoy though it can be quite tiring at times Am running out of spacee so I'll move on to Page 2. Bye for now. | ||||||||||||||||||||
